^ I remember Stacey saying she was Scottish (probably the "Mc" part of her name) but don't remember the French except a reference to her mom spending time in France but maybe that was why. What book was that mentioned in? I'm always interested in finding out more about the BSC and their relatives. ;D

"African" is a bit vague, isn't it? It's a whole continent.

If I remember my US history, a lot of the slaves came from Ghana.
I wonder if Jessi has some white in her, maybe even English ish?

Dawn i thought was Swedish, there was some mention in Dawn on the Coast, i think, and there was something Swedish mentioned in that book that made me think "is she Swedish" I remember searching Dawns Portrait for clues but i found none. It just seemed oddly strange for Sweden to be mentioned in the book.
Of course, it would be interesting if Dawn was half Mexican and I remember her eating lots of Mexican-themed dishes when she was in California with her brother. Of course one could argue she might just like Mexican food, however, I'm part Japanese and i've been exposedto many japanese foods, candy, drinks, snacks growing up and it's part of my natural cuisine.
My community has many Mexican families and everyone has ranged complexions. one of my best friends is half mexican and he has very fair complexion and by just looking at him you assume he is white. His father never married his mother so he kept his mother's last name and another best friend of mine was born with blonde hair and hazel eyes (her sister has blonde hair blue eyes) and both of them have very fair complexions. She's simular to me in food, only hers has been of the Mexican varity.
Jessi, I always thought was half black due to how her skin's tone is on some covers. Like Jessi and the Awful Secret
Kristy for President, on the cover of that book she looks Mexican and so do the brothers. On some Claudia books she looks Chinese or Filipino, check out Claudia and the Perfect Boy. She looks like a Filipino girl. Claudia and the Mystery in the Painting she looks Chinese.

I was browsing around on the wiki and saw Dawn had some Irish in her and made me think of this thread. I thought that was cool and that Sharon had a portrait of her great great great grandfather. I’m jealous I wish I knew what my great great great grandfather looked like.

My community has many Mexican families and everyone has ranged complexions. One of my best friends is half Mexican and he has very fair complexion and by just looking at him you assume he is white. His father never married his mother so he kept his mother's last name and another best friend of mine was born with blond hair and hazel eyes - her sister has blond hair blue eyes - and both of them have very fair complexions. She's similar to me in food, only hers has been of the Mexican varity. Latinos and Latinas have a range of colorings and races...that's why I find it irksome when people assume that "all" hispanics are black-haired, dark-skinned and dark-eyed. I'm Latina and several people in my family have light green eyes and one branch of my family has red hair and fair, freckled complexions. Ditto when ignorant people assume that "all" Scandivanians are blue-eyed blonds or that "all" redheads are Irish. Jessi, I always thought was half black due to how her skin's tone is on some covers. Like Jessi and the Awful Secret. Both of Jessi's parents are black as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins. Many full-blooded Africans have light skin and some have blue or green eyes. I have a neighbor who is fully African-American and has light green eyes. Kristy for President, on the cover of that book she looks Mexican and so do the brothers. Mexicans don't all have one "look." Kristy could pass for lots of ethnicities from Scandinavian to Italian to Irish to hispanic to even part East Indian or Native American. Ditto Mary Anne and the Stevenson twins. All of them have dark brown hair and brown eyes, which are among the most common coloring across the widest range of ethnic groups. Of all the hair colors, black hair is actually the most prevalent hair color in the world with dark brown hair close behind. That's why I find it so irritating and ignorant when people say You don't "look"...Also, you can't always tell a person's ethnicity by looking at names. Many names were "anglicized" upon immigration, especially during the 1884-1920 Ellis Island era in the States. Anyway, here's my beliefs... Kristy's family is most likely a mix of Irish, Italian, Polish and perhaps even a bit of Latina Mary Anne - Mostly German, Polish and Russian with a trace of Swedish and a touch of Asian, maybe Chinese Claudia - Mostly Japanese with possibly a bit of other Asian ethnicity in there Stacey - Irish and Scottish with traces of Polish and Czech, maybe a sliver of French or Italian Dawn - Mostly Irish with a trace of German, Russian and Polish...maybe even a bit of Asian Abby and Anna - Russian and German with traces of Polish and possibly a sliver of Asian ethnicity Jessi - African with traces of East Indian and maybe even native American Mallory - Norwegian and Danish with traces of Scottish, French and English and possibly a sliver of Italian I suspect most of the BSC and most of Stoneybrook has ancestors who passed through Ellis Island. Sooo, that's my take on the BSC's ethnic backgrounds.

^ Your wrong on Mallory and Mary Anne
It looks like Mallorys family is mostly English on her moms dad side. It’s a big focal point in SS 15 and that side of the family has been in England for generations including some there now.
Mary Anne explicitly says in Keep Out, Claudia!, Mary Anne mentions her ancestors are Russian. In Aloha, Baby-sitters!, some of her ancestors are listed as German and Norwegian as well.

I mentioned some Russian in Mary Anne's ancestry and some English in Mallory's ancestry. People, including the BSC, are usually a mix of different ethnic groups. Very few people have purely one ethnic background, especially in the States.
