I don't really get how they enjoyed Fiddler so much. My grandparents made me watch that once when I was about 8 or 9 and I absolutely hated it. I like it now but can't really see kids liking it.

I watched it in high school, but I don't think I was terribly interested in it.

I think Fiddler is much more fun seen live (as long as it's a good production! I saw one that made me cringe through the whole thing, musically terrible) than the film, although the film is definitely good.

Our high School put on a really good production of Fiddler. I agree with you wenonah4th it is better live then the actual movie.

I went to one of the two best high schools for music in the area and my cousin went to the other, so what those two schools did always outshone the others, and made it painfully obvious how the others were. This was not without a very difficult to please director, at least for me! I was never in a production of Fiddler; Cousin was (he was Lazar Wolf).

They did Fiddler in an Alice book. I've never been a huge fan of it, but it always makes me think of Avenue Jew: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVRtD7p6wacIt has a lot of Broadway in-jokes, but you can still get the overall amusement factor.

Ann was obsessed with the movie Meatballs, too. Also, she liked descibing thier clothes.

She was also obsessed with pianos. Can you even count the number of people that took piano lessons in the books?

^That never seemed weird to me because taking piano lessons as a kid is a very normal thing to do, at least when the parents can afford it. I think that there could have been even more clients taking piano and I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

It seemed a little odd to me because I don't even know one person that ever took piano. Just wondering, does anyone remember how many lessons Rosie Wilder took?

Piano, tap, violin, singing...I think there were others.
I think Ann was obsessed with the name Randi...I see this name pop up in several books. Myriah says it's one of the names her parents considered for Laura before she was born. There's a counselor named Randi in Summer Vacation. I think one of Mrs. Barrett's bridesmaids is named this in Here Come the Bridesmaids.
