I have a twelve page paper on soviet literature to finish and mosquito bites the size of baseballs. All I want is another chapter of karen's shoplifting trip.

Tonight, I finally caught up on Mary Anne, Sweet 16. I'm enjoying it so much. I am so pleased that the author didn't permanently abandon the story and is now updating frequently. I thought the first couple chapters showed a lot of promise and was very disappointed when the story stalled. I'm not a big fan of Mary Anne in general, but I like her in the story. I also like - gasp!- Abby, who usually I can't stomach. She's well-written in the story, though, more amusing than annoying. I also finally got around to reading Karen's Shoplifting Trip. The first two chapters gave me a serious headache. The writing-style is so spot-on. Thankfully, I was able to adjust to the lack of contractions and the obnoxiousness of Karen's voice. I didn't read the Little Sister series, but think I'm catching most of the humor from having read the BSC books and various message boards. I love when Karen refers to someone as a "meanie mo" or to herself as "the one and only Karen Brewer". I think the humor would be even more effective if the author had tighter sentence structure. Otherwise, it was a fun read.

What I like about karen's shoplifting trip besides the ls humor is all the club g stuff and how it reflects things like american girl dolls and how nutty little girls go for that stuff. My sister is seven and when that catalog arrives, nothing else exists in her world.

^So much word! I can totally imagine Watson buying a bunch of dolls for Karen and then paying for them to have their hair done at American Girl Place. At least she wouldn't be one of those brats who holds them by their feet so that their hair drags on the ground

I didn't look too closely at the description of Karen's Shoplifting Trip - the author says it will be the first in a series of LS parodies...that should be gigundoly fun.
I've also been reading Mary Anne, Sweet 16, and like it. Claudia and Abby really amuse me - Abby is hilariously written in some spots.

Has anyone on here read any of Rachel D's fics over at ff.net? I read part of one and the nicest thing I can say about it is that it's really strange. Does anyone else feel this way?
I'm loving what I've read of Karen's Shoplifting Trip so far.

I remember those. They were interesting, that's for sure. I thought it was really sad how people started to fight with each other in reviews and all this other crud. I don't care what you think about someone's fic, there's no need to fight in a review section.

Has anyone on here read any of Rachel D's fics over at ff.net? I read part of one and the nicest thing I can say about it is that it's really strange. Does anyone else feel this way? That's way more nice stuff than I could ever say about her. I can't stand her constant baiting and attempts to start flame wars. I'm fairly sure she was the one who once impersonated me in an anonymous review - she misspelled my username in the same way she misspelled it when addressing me in another review. The anonymous comment was then deleted when I stated repeatedly that the anonymous "MKay1" (I used to be McKay1, now I'm just McKay again, but regardless, she still misspelled it, I'm 50% sure that it was her - I KNOW it was either her or one particular other author) was not me. Therefore she could be the best writer in the world and I still wouldn't like her. As for onlylivingboy, I read most of Meant to Be and didn't love it, didn't hate it. I think I left some positive reviews. Although I found Mary Anne to be really OOC, I enjoyed the developments of some of the tertiary characters. Honestly, I find most BSC fic to be OOC in some way or another, but it bothers me a lot less than it would in most fandoms for two reasons. One, there isn't a whole lot of BSC fic out there, and in a small fandom, I tend to read whatever I can find (it's a good thing fanfic is the only illegal substance I'm addicted to!). Two, teenagers tend to change a lot in a relatively short period of time. So as long as the writing is good, or at least not terrible, I'm willing to give it a pass. Of course, there's "change" and there's "Mary Sue," and your views on which is which will no doubt vary Edited to add, I too hope Karen's Shoplifted Trip is updated soon. It wouldn't be nearly so funny if the author hadn't managed to perfectly recreate the tone of the actual books. It's hilarious.

I wasn't aware she had done this. I wouldn't have read anything by her if I had known. People that do things like that really annoy me.
I think I would olb's stories if they were written as original fiction. She's a talented writer.

Yeah, welcome to my world. I drop everything when I see that she's updated, and when I first discovered her fic, I lost many nights to reading marathons! I miss those epic-length super special parodies. People should get together and do another one!

I remember those of us who wrote Viva Las BSC (I was one of the main authors of it) talking about doing a reunion/future story next but then the FT boards died and most of us lost track of each other. If I had any ideas, I'd totally be doing fanfic. I just think I'm more suited for rping, or if I do fic, the big group things like Viva Las BSC was.

Is anyone reading Where Your Book Begins by The Lady Elizabeth? I just started it today on a whim and I'm glad I did. So far I think it's just great.
