Kristy ends up pretty much right in the middle of the family once Watson and Elizabeth are married, and they've adopted Emily Michelle. It's interesting to see how she realtes to her miscellaneous siblings. One thing that's funny is how fast she shifts gears from wanting nothing to do with Karen and Andrew to being a very devoted big sister to them. Even more than to DM, I'm afraid.

I remember that Kristy was convinced that Watson's kids were brats and kept refusing to sit for them. Then after just one time sitting with them she warmed up to them.
Also interesting is how accepting Kristy was (well, all of them, really) to the idea of having an adopted sister, especially since they found out only a day or so ahead of time that Emily would be coming to live there.

That was surprising. No time to adjust.

I think it's interesting how different Kristy is portrayed as a sister in the BSC books to the LS books.
She seems to drop everything for Karen in the LS books, yet we only really see her with Karen when she's baby sitting in the BSC books. Maybe it's the logistics.

I guess because we only see the family life from Karen's perspective in LS.
I think Kristy comes across as a better sister in BSC. In LS, she's often quite short with Karen.

I think Kristy is on her best behavior when she is baby-sitting and in LS she is often just Karen's sister, not her baby-sitter. She acts more like a normal teenager when her focus isn't solely on the kids in front of her.

Kristy seemed to be a surrogate mom for DM, Karen, Andrew, maybe even EM. I always got the impression she spent more time with them then Elizabeth did.
But as for Charlie and Sam, I thought their relationship was intresting: close, but they still snipe and tease each other.

Kristy also was very proud of her reputation with kids, so its not suprising that she was not only a good siiter, but a good sister! I enjoyed very much her time with Andrew, he seemed to need another person in his life that wasn't a Karen. I always despised how Karen treated Andrew, but that probably is the age thing.

kristy started out as a really great sister to DM, but once karen and emily were around we never heard of them doing anything anymore. even during little house months, emily was ALWAYS there and she stole the focus from DM. i liked how concerned and close she seemed to charlie in mind your own business, and her relationship with sam is really believable. but i hated the way she left DM behind when she got some new siblings.

^David Michael struggled a bit with school in the LS books. You're right, it would have been nice to see Kristy more involved with him where that was concerned. I guess the BSC books already had too many sitter/client tutoring plots for it to carry over to those books, but a little more interest from Kristy would have been nice.
