Anyone have an opinion on this minor character? She's in The Secret Life of Mary Anne Spier. I think she's one of the more interesting ones, although her reason for living in a women's shelter and not communicating with her parents seemed...not really developed enough? So, she thinks her parents are like, country club snobs and doesn't want to live that kind of life. So the parents kick their 16 year old daughter out and don't even want to talk to her on Christmas? Cold.
I don't know, she's just always been memorable to me because of her blue-polished fingernails and smudgy eye makeup. Again we have Mary Anne and her girl crushes--she says her face and hair remind her of an angel (angel, Angela, aha!)

I always thought Angela's story was bs. I pictured her as knocked up, if you'll pardon my slang. I did like her, though, and I thought she was portrayed pretty realistically.

It's possible she was pregnant, if we read between the lines, but of course that wouldn't be an appropriate topic of discussion for the target audience of the books.

I don't know about the pregnancy idea, but there HAD to be more to Angela's story. Wouldn't preppy, country-club snobs want to keep up appearances at any cost? Kicking a daughter out of the house isn't exactly a way to do that.

Maybe she was all into drugs.

I wish she had at least a cameo appearance in California Diaries. Maybe Dawn could've run into her and they could've talked about how things are going for them currently, whether or not Angela is talking to her parents again, etc.

i really loved angela. she sounded so pretty, and it was so heartbreaking to read about such a young girl being on her own. i always guessed she was gay, probably because one of my friends in high school was kicked out of his house for that reason.

^That's horrible about your friend, Oldhickory. I liked Angela, too, but agree their seemed much more to her story. I just had the thought that MA should have introduced her (A) to Nikki Stanton-Cha. Perhaps N could have offerred A some support and ideas having gone through a similar type of upbringing.
