I kind of hope AMM drops by sometime. I like to picture her posting under some alias, letting us in on the real motivations of her characters. Hehe, maybe she is here! Who do you guys think is most likely to be Ann undercover?

Lol, Kylie, Ann Martin, Undercover BSC Forum Investigator--you ought to write it! It sure would be very cool and interesting, too, if she ever did stop by!

I like the livejournal snark community a lot, but it doesn't get updated much. Most of the best books have already been snarked multiple times. lol thanks! I'm one of the snarkers on there (I'm the one currently in the middle of Dawn the Big Sleepover) and pickings are getting slim, as far as what books to snark. I agree that most of the snark is like laughing at a family member. I may get a bit nasty in my snarks, but it isn't that I hate the books. The BSC was my life when I was a kid, and it's just funny looking back and seeing how things from an adult perspective just don't make sense! If I was AMM and saw the snark community, I'd feel like I was at a big BSC roast or something. Being a writer does include looking at your past works and being like "Geez, what was I thinking when I wrote that?"

If I were a published author (especially of something as big as the BSC), I would definitely Google the hell out of my works. So I wouldn't be surprised if AMM has seen these boards. I kind of hope AMM drops by sometime. I like to picture her posting under some alias, letting us in on the real motivations of her characters. I remember reading JK Rowling saying that, while the Harry Potter series was still being published, she would occasionally post on Harry Potter boards under an alias. When posters were making hypotheses about what would happen later in the series, she would make her own suggestions (which just so happened to be what was actually going to happen in the future books) just to see how others would respond, and to see if anyone would be like, "No, there's no way that could possibly be true."

I seem to recall Ann being a bit of a luddite? It's been awhile since I have read her biography. I kind of don't think she has been here, because I don't think that is her personality, but if I were her I would definitely visit from time to time.

She's had time to change if she was a luddite!

She also has a Facebook (with this glorious list of facts) and Twitter. On which she follows me, because she understandably wants to be the peanut butter to my jelly. We are totes gonna be BFFs and IT WILL BE AWESOME. As I am currently underemployed, I hope to work out a sort of Mallory/Henrietta Hayes arrangement, sans accusations based on a weak grasp of the concept of fiction and sociopathic dredging up of unpleasant memories.

I loved the interview she linked to on Twitter...she's like "well, maybe Mary Anne" when asked which girl would be obsessed with Twilight.
People loved Claudia because she was the cool, artsy one and was always putting together some great outfit. How did you come up with her ensembles book-to-book?
Well, I have to say, not being any sort of a fashion plate myself…when I was creating Claudia I wanted to create a character that was very creative, very artistic, and I wanted Claudia to express that in her style of dress as well as the projects and things that she was interested in. But coming up with the ideas for her outfits, honestly, I was just looking though clothing catalogs, seeing what kids were wearing on television shows. Some of it came right of my head, but she wasn’t based on anybody in particular and her clothes weren’t based on any particular designer or anything.

If I was Ann, I would definitely search online to find something like this. I'm not sure if I would join but I would probably enjoy reading what people post.

I hope Ann realizes that even though we criticize, snark, disagree - whatever the case may be - with the books sometimes, deep down there is a real passion, enjoyment, and down right love for this series. It's a big part in all of our lives and something that bonds us all together. In a way, we are our own BSC!

Some people who write snarks don't always strike me as Fans, but those of us here? Definitely.

^Kristy, Claudia, and MA talked about "the glue" that would hold their friendship together at the end of TSB. I think we are the glue that (now) keeps their friendship alive. "They" introduced all of us to one another and in turn we are carrying on their memory. In that sense, "we" are indeed the "real" BSC.
As for Ann, she never answered my question the two times I wrote her asking if she knows of our forum. I have a feeling she must but as others have said, she has (sadly) moved on from the BSC. It would be awesome if she ever posted though. I would love to know for sure how much time she's spent on here.

That would be funny if an account called "TheREALAnnMMartin" popped up on this board. I would laugh.
