This is a stretch of a reference but still relates to the books. I have enjoyed listening to CeeLo Green's rendition of "Mary Did You Know?" I truly thought she was a woman and her voice reminded me a little of Tracy Chapman in parts. I Googled this morning and admit to being shocked that "she" is a man! Reminded me of the "he" "she's" which did get quite annoying with frequency and sometimes like Haley in Island Adventure or those gingerbread people cookies in Mallory's Wish completely un-necessary. I was thinking this morning how much fun it is to find references to BSC and Stoneybrook in most anything and so wanted to share this one.

I watched the documentary Bully, and this sad kid said people called him "Spaz kid" or "Spaz boy". It made me laugh... Sorry, sad kid.

"'Za" was used on SNL this week

^It is also used a lot in the Pen Pal series books (I am rereading now) to refer to the Figaro's Pizza delivery truck--"The za Wagon." This isn't a BSC reference but a BSC board member one, in a couple of the books I read yesterday Amy, one of the main characters and her boyfriend/pen-pal John are big fans of New Kids on the Block. I thought of some of you enjoy their music on here.

The za wagon?? Love it. I'm watching a recent Family Guy episode on hulu and two characters are speaking after dark with a flashlight code. Haha

^ yep, the za Wagon. How does the flashlight code work? Maybe we can a little bit solve the BSC mystery? I do remember in Karen's Hurricane, Karen and Nancy begin coming up with a flashlight code to use in the event of a future hurricane. I never made that connection until now between KGI. Thanks, Boo Boo.

It was rapid-fire switching on and off, pretty much how I imagine the book code was, lol! Their flashlight "speak" always mystified me.

^Oh me, too, which was why I was hoping for a little clue. I also was never too sure how Kristy and MA managed to clearly see the different flashes. I agree with you that the code was probably a series of quick flashes on and/off. I'm checking right now and on the bottom of page 69 in Karen's Hurricane is where she and Nancy begin their code. Two quick flashes=How are you? Three quick flashes=I am fine. I did love the night before how Karen and Nancy both knew to check each other's windows for some kind of "I'm all right" message between them. I thought that was very sweet.

Morse code seems hard Just read that Schuyler Fisk, aka movie Kristy, has a role in the upcoming film "The Best of Me," based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.

I was at Target the other day shopping for some winter clothes and I found an adorable pink sweater with sheep on it. My sister said it was an odd design and I told her "sheep are in". And I wore it to work and got tons of compliments because I normally don't ever get dressed up!

This isn't exactly a reference but nowhere else logical to put it. I never noticed until recently, in whichever book it was, that the "Lovely Ladies" dialogue is always the same.
