Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see any other threads like this.
I always liked instances of when the babysitters called all the sitters their best friends, instead of just their standard best friend. For example, I remember one time when Mallory said 'Jessi is my best best friend, but if I'm counting best friends, I have to count the other members of the BSC' or something like that. I also remember in one book when Claudia called both Abby and Stacey '[her] best friends'. I always liked those times.
I guess maybe it's because I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can have more than one best friend (like MA has *gasp* TWO!).
I just always loved this because I'm really corny. It made me happy to think that they were all equally good friends. I know there are instances where they say 'so and so is my best friend, and the others are good friends' but I tend to overlook those (even though they outnumber the 'all of us are best friends' references by far ;D)
Anyway, I just wanted to know what you all thought on this subject.

^ Yes, well that's true. I consider a few people my best friends, but there are only a couple who I can tell everything too, and know they'll understand, or at least try to. then there are friends who you can laugh with, but not talk about problems with as much. But I love them all

I don't think they all were best friends though. Mal and Mary Anne? Not best friends. Jessi and Claudia? No, not really best friends. Kristy and Dawn? Secretly hated each other. IMO ;D

Kristy and Dawn? Secretly hated each other. IMO ;D I think that too. The cover of Farewell Dawn with Kristy grinning as Dawn is getting on the plane further proves that theory ;D.

^Yes. ;D Kristy was always jealous of Dawn's relationship with Mary Anne.

I'm w/ Maryanne, to a point. I say "to a point" because when I refer to my best friend, I'm talking about the girl I've only known since we were 18 (we're 26 now), who's my complete and utter opposite, and is nothing like anyone else I know. Yes, I can tell her everything, but she doesn't really tell me everything the same way. There are also two other people who fit the best friend category. One is a girl I've known my whole life (and who I'm waiting for her to call me back); we seldom actually talk on the phone despite this current game of tag, but we can always come back and pick up where we left off. The third is my brother-in-law, who probably knows both my DH and me better than anyone else, is fairly likeminded in all things, and tells everything like it is. Actually, he's the person who sees all sides of me including the ones that I keep hidden from other friends.

Claudia called Abby one of her best friends? Weird. I liked it when the girls got paired up with their non-best friends. It was cool to see them interact with someone who they normally wouldn't spend much one-on-one time with, like Kristy and Jessi or Claudia and Mal. And I agree that it's nice that in those rare instances they refer to everyone in their club as their best friends.

^ Yeah, I liked that, too. Also, when they had big sleepovers together, or whatever, and hung out outside the club/club events. But yeah, I can't remember what book it was for the life of me, but Claudia was narrating, and her class was going on a trip somewhere. Stacey and Abby were going, too, and also someone in her class who attached herself onto Claudia. She wanted Claudia to stay in a room with her, but Claudia said something along the lines of 'I want to stay in a room with Abby and Stacey! They're my best friends!' Or something like that.

I guess maybe it's because I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can have more than one best friend (like MA has *gasp* TWO!). I had two best friends, kindergarten 'til 2nd grade(I transfered). I just always loved this because I'm really corny. It made me happy to think that they were all equally good friends. I know there are instances where they say 'so and so is my best friend, and the others are good friends' but I tend to overlook those (even though they outnumber the 'all of us are best friends' references by far ;D) I really liked this too. Not just because I'm corny. It's because I've had a lot of experience with fake friends. It's a long story. Wanna know it? Kristy and Dawn? Secretly hated each other. IMO ;D But I really liked their conversation in Dawn's Wicked Stepsister.

She wanted Claudia to stay in a room with her, but Claudia said something along the lines of 'I want to stay in a room with Abby and Stacey! They're my best friends!' Or something like that. Ahhh, okay. That was in Claudia and the World's Cutest Baby, where they go to Philly. That makes sense to me now. I thought you meant before that Claudia described Abby as her best friend in a chapter two. Since I've read that book like a million times, I remember her saying that now. She said that to a girl (Melissa?) who wanted to room with her and wanted to know why she was rooming with Abby and Stacey, even though they weren't in the same class, and that's when Claud says that Abby and Stacey are her best friends. It's kinda sad that I know all of that from memory... Anyway. Yes. I've had more than one best friend before, and it was never a big deal, so I don't really know why the girls make it such a big deal and mention in every single chapter two that Mary Anne has two besties. So did Stacey and Jessi, at least for a while before their out of town best friends were phased out of the series. I always considered them to all be best friends, but each had one or two that they were particularly close to (Claud and Stacey, Mal and Jessi, etc). I like the moments where they turn to someone besides their best friends. I just reread Mary Anne vs. Logan, and when Logan's annoying her and she needs advice, Mary Anne calls Stacey and Claudia. I liked that a lot.

^Me too. And doesn't Kristy call Jessi first in Kristy + Bart = ? when she's having problems? I forgot why...Jessi?? And then Jessi directs her to Mary Anne.

Awesome, lol. Yes, I loved reading about those moments. But it seemed like they often talked on the phone anyway, even if the specific conversation wasn't mentioned - for example, I read Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies today, and for Stacey's sitting chapter, she said, 'Stacey told me on the phone that night...' I've read lots of other instances of that, too. So maybe they talked on the phone a lot with each other, not just the best friends, but it wasn't mentioned much.
