trying to think of the books the BSCers liked to read.
Kristy -- did she even read? i'm drawing a blank.
Claudia -- Nancy Drew, of course. She also read newbery winners for classes. And Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye, which she wanted to read on her own.
Mary Anne -- She seemed to have wide-ranging taste in books. Her favorite is Wuthering Heights, she likes To Kill A Mockingbird and The Wind in the Willows. She knows a lot about children's and young adult lit, I think. And she also likes Stephen King, apparently. In Bad Luck Mystery "I've read enough Stephen King books to know that you don't go fooling around with the supernatural."
Stacey -- she reads Catcher in the Rye and a Stephen King book in Summer Vacation. She likes Agatha Christie. And always has an assortment of books in her Kid-Kit for Charlotte. Anything else?
Dawn -- ghost stories
Mal and Jessi -- Marguerite Henry. Jessi read bios of ballerinas. And Mal knows children's lit.
Logan, Shannon, Abby -- ?
Miscellaneous: Cokie...Beatrix Potter. hehe.

Kristy reads while she's grounded in Kristy + Bart = ?, but I'm drawing a blank on what (Sounder, maybe?). She also mentions a sport book she read when she sees Anna reading The Mozart Season. In Kristy Power, she decides to read Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt, which is the beginning of an AWESOME seven book cycle. (I'm still a little in love with Jeff Greene, lol.) But I think Kristy would like Dicey a lot.
I'm pretty sure Stacey, and possibly someone else, reads Summer of My German Soldier. I think Stacey reads it in Stacey's Ex-Best Friend, but it was mentioned in something I read recently and I'm only up to #37 in my chronological readthrough. She reads Pride and Prejudice with her mom in Stacey McGill, Matchmaker, and the whole club reads Jacob Have I Loved, iirc.
Logan, I think, had read some of Megan Rineheart's books in Mary Anne Misses Logan, but those aren't real, lol.
I was surprised Mary Anne mentioned Stephen King in #17, lol. I've creeped myself out just reading the summaries of King novels on Wikipedia; I won't even go near the books. She also loves Little Women. I think in Kristy in Charge she mentions that she likes Emily Dickinson. I always shared a lot of MA's reading tastes, although I maintain Wuthering Heights is NOT romantic. Heathcliff is made of crazy, and Cathy is a piece of work.
I bet Shannon reads Serious Literature, but maybe she also has a weakness for something like Harlequin romances (or whatever the equivalent of the BSC books would be INSIDE the BSC-verse.)
I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of so far.

From what I remember about Kristy reading, it was always a sports book. Along with the one alula mentioned I believe in Super Special # 1, Kristy was reading a sports book by the pool while she was waiting to swim.

I'm pretty sure Kristy read The Witch of Blackbird Pond for one of her classes. And in Kristy and the Mystery Admirer, she hides the creepy letters in her bookcase inside a copy of The Cat Ate My Gymsuit. And we know she's read Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret, because in MA Misses Logan, she exclaims how there's BRA stuff in that book! And this isn't a book, but Kristy also likes People magazine. She was sitting on the front porch at Watson's reading it in Boy-Crazy Stacey.

Kristy reads Jane Eyre while she's grounded.

I think I remember Mary Anne reading Julie of Wolves. Maybe? It was in a Dawn book when Dawn is in CA, and Mary Anne is telling her about it over the phone.
And of course Jessi likes Black Beauty.

Jessi and Mal both read the Saddle Club series....it's mentioned in a couple of the later books.

Right, how could I forget?
And Kristy did read a lot of books while she was grounded...I think I also remember her reading Shiloh.

I forgot about Kristy reading Jane Eyre! I always wanted to call shenanigans on that. I read really fast, and I could probably knock off Jane Eyre in a weekend (when I did my Victorian novels class, I had to read similar length and style novels overnight a couple times--protip: reading Thomas Hardy at 4 a.m. in November during a rainstorm is really, really depressing), but I doubt Kristy could read that AND a bunch of other books AND have time to run the record-setting clinic out her window in two measly days.

^ True; I'm a fast reader, too, and Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books, but it takes me at least couple days to read it. Then again, I've never read it while grounded with nothing else to do.

Perhaps she had started it at some other point in time, and finished it while she was grounded?

And yeah, how did Kristy have all of those books in her room? I never owned that many children's books. I usually just borrow them from the library. But since they were in her room, she probably just skimmed over them since she's probably read them before which might account for her being able to read that many books in such a short amount of time.
I forget what book it was in but Mal and Jessi both read A Wrinkle in Time and were talking about the character, Aunt Beast.

^I never went to the library outside of the school library. I owned a LOT of children's books. Also, with so many kids in her family, it'd be understandable that the Thomases acquired a fair amount of books.

^I was the exact opposite. I think I checked maybe 4 books total out of the school libraries from 7-12th grades and went to the public library a few times a week. I owned tons of books too. Topic: Karen Brewer and Nancy Dawes collected Bobbsey Twins books. There's a Little Sister book where Karen searches every store in town looking for the newest book to give to Nancy for Christmas.
