I don't like Dawn as much re-reading the series. She is probably one of my least favourite. I find her very inconsistent. They claim Dawn is the individual, but throughout the series, she has had problems being herself (think: Dawn's Big Date). Yeah, I always thought that too. I actually think that Dawn is one of the most insecure BSC members, more insecure than we are led to think. Because if she was the individual she never would've tried to change her look for some guy and vice versa. I think she just hid her insecurities better than anyone else in the club and thus was named "the individual". Your icon cracks me up, btw ;D.

When I was younger, I didn't have any favorites. Now my favorites are Mary Anne, Mallory and Abby. I appreciate Shannon now. Previously, I didn't have an opinion on her. I like Dawn and Logan less.

When I first started reading the BSC books, I didn't really have a specific fave character yet. As I kept on reading, Claudia became a favorite of mine despite her sometimes annoying behavior (like in "Stacey's Mistake" and "Claudia and Mean Janine"). It's because we share a lot of similarities, I guess. Kristy is also another favorite of mine at times because I can really relate to her as well.
For some reason, I used to hate Stacey but now, she's starting to grow on me. I never hated Mary Anne but as I kept on reading and rereading, I've developed a liking for her. She's pretty relatable in my opinion.
Dawn for me just seems meh... I don't know why though. I don't hate her but then again, I don't love her either.
I also agree with what a lot of you said. Mallory and Jessi weren't developed well enough but if I were to choose, I prefer Mallory over Jessi.
As for Logan and Shannon... Well, I liked Logan for some reason when I first read "Logan's Story" but as I kept on reading the other BSC books, I realized how boring he really is. I can't really judge Shannon yet since to be honest, I never read much about her yet but I think she's okay in my opinion (based on what I read about her so far, that is).

I used to love Claudia (because I was artistic and loved junk food and thought she was interesting), Mallory (because she was nerdy and had glasses and wanted to be a writer, just like me) and Mary Anne (because she was shy and sensitive and loved cats, like me) when I was a kid. I also liked Abby because she was funny and had contacts/glasses.
Now I like Stacey a lot more than I used to, Claudia is still pretty cool (and I rival her in my earring collection now... there are definitely days when I dress Claudia-cool), and I still love Mary Anne, but my favorite is Dawn. I'm definitely the most like her-- if the hippie and individual (and from CA and double pierced ears and blonde) parts of Dawn mixed with MA's introversion, cat-loving, and over sensitivity, you'd have me exactly. Hahaha. I don't love Mallory, but I remember sixth grade feeling the same way for me, so I'm sympathetic to her.
I have never ever liked Kristy (I never liked how bossy she was, she didn't have cool clothes, she was frequently not that nice, and I HATE sports) or Jessi (borrrrrring). I'm ambivalent about Shannon and Logan.
ETA: The first book I ever read was Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls, and my first favorite sitter was Claudia. So that theory definitely held true for me for a while.

I always liked Stacey, even when she left the BSC and joined again. I stopped collecting shortly after that but the most details I heard about her in the series later on was the book where she joined the mathletes and when she wasn't sure if she should join or not cause she might be seen as geeky, I was a little disappointed hearing that cause she always embraced her smart side and would go on about equations in the intro chapters of her books and was doing a 360, add to that her dad trying to tell her to come to NYC over doing school stuff.

My current favorites are a tie between Mary Anne and Mallory. They are the M & M girls in my head.

At some point, I really started to like Dawn. I liked that she shared my interest in the Environment, Vegetarianism, and Sustainable Living. Because of this, I never even noticed that she was generally insufferable (at least according to people in fandom). I still don't really notice it. Of course, I could just be ignoring it, because I share that trait and would rather not be hated for it. But the weirdest part of all is that for most of my life I have been mostly indifferent to Claudia. But lately, I've been finding that I really like Claudia. I think her books are really funny, and she offers up some great laughs. I like that she shares some similar interests in dumb mysteries and art projects, though I am not at all talented. I also like how she is laid back and kind of a loner, but isn't not pointed out in a chapter two. I totally agree with you about Dawn! I was really into stuff like animal rights and the environment when I was a kid so I loved Dawn. Now I can see how people could find her insufferable. I have a bad feeling that I was insufferable about those things too when I was that age. I was always pretty neutral about Claudia when I was a kid but what you said makes a lot of sense. I'm getting more into artsy stuff so I admire that about Claudia. I remember my brother said recently that a person having a passion for something is usually an appealing trait (or something like that. I'd have to ask him about the exact words). I think Claudia and her love of art is like that. I didn't care much about Mallory because she represented a side of me that I tried to hide and was sometimes mocked for: being a nerd who loved reading and writing. Now I've embraced those sides of myself and like Mallory a lot more. I'm not trying to tell people what to do but I really don't like hearing Mallory being mocked and snarked on. I hope it's okay to say that.

I've gone through favourites over and over. I used to like Mallory because she liked to write and wanted to be a children's author (that used to be my ambition) but that changed a while ago. I also had a soft spot for Stacey, because she was fashion-conscious and yet still managed to not be bitchy most of the time, unlike a certain ex bestie of hers.
Now? I'm not sure. I feel like I should like Mary Anne or Dawn more, because I identify most with them (California really is my dream home and I'm sensitive and quiet and find it hard to make friends because of it). But really...and I know I'm in the minority here...Jessi might actually be my favourite. I don't know why...maybe it's just because I like her books the most. Claudia's also a great narrator, but I never related to her, which is weird since I have an older sister who's now a psychologist and is even going to be working at Harvard for a while next May as a lecturer (she has to go halfway around the world to get to Boston).
Finally, I just don't like Abby or Kristy. Kristy was fine in the earlier books, but her bossiness and in general, obsessiveness about club rules became overdone, to the point where she often abandoned common decency and friendship for club rules or club publicity. Abby? Well, tbh, she came off as obnoxious to me.

I always like Mary Anne but I'm warming up a bit more to Sonia. I think I've liked all of them at one point as I was reading them. Kristy and Abby were never that high up though in terms of a list.
