Ha, sudden thought. Maybe she'd be like Michelle in American Pie? She's got the red hair, for a start.

That always strikes me as odd, too. Especially when it's Kristy or Mary Anne. I always feel like somebody's mother when I read/review those stories because I'm always like, "OMG - these girls are so irresponsible! Why isn't someone dead yet?" My friends and I never drank or went to parties in high school. We were too busy hanging out at Sonic Drive-In.
Dear Lord, yes! Mallory would be the talentless drama geek who helps paint the sets and passes out programs on opening night.

I think I wrote a story when I was in my very early stages of high school where I had Kristy smoke pot or smoke a cigarette or something. I thought it'd be interesting and a nice reaction to her loss of the bsc. It's on ff.net still. I don't know how i feel about the idea now.

^ I think they should've had a book in which one of the girls tried a cigarette. Probably Stacey, when she was trying to get in with the "bad girls". Instead they had her merely trailing after them nagging, but come on. It's pretty realistic that kids experiment and cigarettes are fairly tame.

Social/binge drinking is extremely common for teens here, more so now than when I was in high school (and it wasn't really THAT long ago... was it?) so I don't see it as particularly unrealistic. Alcohol seems slightly more taboo in the US. I know...The 14-year-olds at my work come in and talk about the parties they go to and how much they drank there...It makes me feel old and pathetic.

Lol! I don't know. It's quite hard to predict. I mean who is the same as they were when they were 13. I used to be so good. It'd be nice if they all stayed mates. Even if they did splinter off. Maybe they'll just be content with eachother. It would be sad if they suddenly stopped talking As for Claudia dropping out, she'd have to kill Mr and Mrs kISHI 1st. They maybe supportive but I can't see them swallowing this They'll murder her. The baddest she'll be is smoke a joint and go out with badboys. I reckon the first to turn bad would be Mary-Anne or Mal. Oh and Cokie will continue her campaign against MA. No-one humiliates Cokie in her house and gets away with it. I wonder if spaz girl will follow mal.

I think I've read that story. Doesn't Mrs. Prezzioso or Mrs. Newton catch her and turn her into Elizabeth and Watson?
I don't think they'd have much of a choice.

^I think they have a choice if she still lives at home.
I never drank really in hs either, but I know a lot of kids did. I still don't really like reading stories about the BSC drinking and stuff, I want them to be innocent and 13! Also I think people take it to extremes when doing a ff about the BSC, they're come off as practically borderline alcoholics!

I think I've read that story. Doesn't Mrs. Prezzioso or Mrs. Newton catch her and turn her into Elizabeth and Watson? Yeah, that's it. It's pretty embarrassing, although i got a review the other day yelling at me for not updating for three years.

^I think they have a choice if she still lives at home. Not if she flunks out. Maybe if they send her to another school, but then she'll just sulk for a few weeks and her parents will give in. Then she'll spend the next couple of years trying to sell her crap art while working at Chuck E Cheese's wearing the mouse costume and gorging on leftover pizza.

Don't your parents have to sign a piece of paper or something?

^ Not sure about the laws in the US, but over here, I'm pretty sure you can leave school, provided you're 15 yrs old.
I don't think the Kishi's would be supportive of Claudia dropping out, but I also can't see them being able to physically force her to attend school as a dedicated student if she's not inclined to apply herself.
High School Claudia is likely to end up rebelling against all the values and expectations the parents have put on her, the unfair comparisons to Janine and their ridiculous standards. No Nancy Drew for someone who is borderline retarded when it comes to academics? Priorities, people.
I guess they could threaten to throw her out unless she changes her attitude, but I don't think that's a reasonable option for many parents.

We had to complete school until we were 16 (15 if you was turning 16 after the school year had finished) provided it was in the summer/august). Everything was optional after that.
She's dealt with the Janine comparisons all her life. 4 more yrs wont hurt. Dropping out- she'll never hear the end of it....Unless of course her parents are dead. Besides she likes the social side of school...If all fails in highschool, she could always become a glamour model, or pedal her line in other stores as well as Mrs. Mcgill's.
Anyway, I reckon we might see I gigantic love triangle happen: Mary-anne, Cary and Kristy. But then I'm not sure I can stomach another triangle.

I can see Claudia phoning it in until senior year, and when it turns out that her friends are graduating and she isn't, she just won't go back the next year.
