True, but maybe between the ages of 14-18 (renowned for being quite difficult in the best of circumstances) she'll decide to rebel. I could imagine it happening IRL.
That said, I agree with you that she enjoys the social side of school. And all the "smart but doesn't apply herself" crap aside, Claudia truly does seem to dedicate herself to academics. It's an eternal struggle, but if she was truly "lazy" she wouldn't care and wouldn't even make an effort to study. I've seen THAT happen plenty of times. Maybe in high school her obvious learning disability will be addressed and Claud will excel.
The Kishi family probably would never let her hear the end of it, if Claudia dropped out of HS, but on the other hand, what would be the point of continuously forcing her to attend when she is showing no signs of improvement and getting nowhere?

Kristy: she'd stay the same and cry unstoppably when the BSC breaks up Mary-Ann: her inner b*tch'll come out when she sees Logan w/ his new gf, Cokie. then she'd be w/ the "in" crowd to win him back. Claudia: She'd invent her own group, only solutable for people who belong nowhere Stacey: tough. 1 of 2: either becomes a total airhead or a total math geek Dawn: she'll realize what she's missing by being veggie and'll go all out goth in NY Mallory: she'll runaway (they won't notice........at least not for a few years) Jessi: she'll get accepted into Juliard (sending her away is the best thing I can do for that girl)

Social/binge drinking is extremely common for teens here, more so now than when I was in high school (and it wasn't really THAT long ago... was it?) so I don't see it as particularly unrealistic. Alcohol seems slightly more taboo in the US. For the record, it seemed INSANE to me that no one in Sweet Valley ever touched alcohol. Not a bad thing, by any stretch, but not an accurate reflection of high school kids in my experience. Ancient topic, but it's here soooo I remember one instance that it was brought up. Elizabeth and Sam on the night of the prom where he was killed were drinking. So I think the alcohol topic was brought up but always had horrid endings to prevent it becoming normal.

^I read that as Elizabeth Brewer and Sam Thomas and was all "Sam died!?" Then again, that might have been interesting.

Anyway, I reckon we might see I gigantic love triangle happen: Mary-anne, Cary and Kristy. But then I'm not sure I can stomach another triangle. Hmm, that could be interesting. I've actually read a couple of Kristy-Cary fanfics on FF.net. She and Cary would either be a match made in Heaven or they'd end up killing each other; I'm not sure which. Throwing Mary Anne into the mix would really complicate things. But as we all know, Cary just loves complications.

Alcohol is a massive thing in HS here... I was drinking heaps at 13. But I stopped at around 15, and now have the occasional night out, but thats it. So it does happen... I would love MA and Cary to get together Oh, and I really dont think Stacey would be a geek... I just cant see it, Math or not. Kristy will never change... Neither will Mal. I can actually see Mal rebelling the most though. Jessi will just get out. Dawn will be seen as a weirdo... Claud will prolly struggle, but make it. At least for awhile.

I'd almost like to see Claudia have the ambition to apply to an arts high school, especially if the club is kind of drifting apart anyway. She'd still get a basic education, and she'd start to have a better sense of the demands of art besides just a fun hobby. Otherwise, I just see her drifting through SHS.
I think Kristy might have kind of a crisis when she signs up/runs for office and can't order people around with The Look. And it will be very good for her. I can also see her switching to a sport she hasn't tried yet. Forensics might be good, too.
Abby will play soccer and run track in the off-season, maybe doing something like the shotput too because she thinks it's funny. She would get so so grades, but a lot of teachers would like her because she'd participate in class a lot without being all Alan Gray about it. She might do really good work if she really likes the teacher or class, but most of the time she slides.
I think Mary Anne would write for either the newspaper or the yearbook, although not as an editor. I also think she might get involved in some service stuff, or peer counseling. I'd love to see her form a knitting club at SHS, which I don't think is THAT long a shot nowadays.
I think some of Stacey's math geekiness might evolve into her being kind of a techie who would always have the newest phone or whatever, but would also seriously be interested in the science and math parts. I also see her as someone who can "float"--the guys in AP Computer Programing class or AP Physics will love her and with them she'll be totally geeky, but then she'll sort of downplay that and hang out in popular circles.
Someone mentioned Dawn going goth, but I could see that for Mallory, as well. I tend to assume that Jessi will end up fulltime in Dance NY. I see Dawn as someone who would flit around a lot of different causes, and generally be kind of difficult to work with. Maybe she'll protest the cafeteria serving meat and non-organic produce.

Kristy: Will become a cheerleader and part of the in crowd.
Mary Anne: Will attempt to become part of the in crowd to keep her friendship with Kristy alive, but then she'll give up and join the yearbook staff. She'll date Logan all through high school and at the end of senior year, be nominated as class sweethearts.
Claudia: Will end all ties with the BSC (including Stacey) and become the queen bee of the art freaks.
Dawn: Will be a loner and try to start her own environment club to make new friends and save the planet.
Stacey: Become the "It Girl". Enough said.
Mallory: Will join the newspaper staff and become editor. Will mostly just hang out with Jessi.
Jessi: Will mostly just hang out with Mal and focus on her ballet.

I think Mallory would become a complete Meg from Family Guy. I can see Jessi progressing to be in a much cooler crowd (to quote Mean Girls, perhaps the "Asocial Black Hotties") and leaving Mallory to be sort of a loner who enjoys sitting at home reading The Bell Jar and writing emo poetry and will be known as the uncool older sister of the triplets, who will be extremely popular (Fred and George Weasley style)...

I can see Stacey becoming the It Girl, easily. I see her still being best friends with Claud, but Claud is only really cool by association and her real friends are the other art students.
I also see Kristy, Mary Anne and Dawn (pretending she's in Stoneybrook) keeping up their friendships and hanging out together.
Mal and Jessi, honestly, I don't really see as friends during high school, which I know sounds sad. But if Mal's in Riverbend and/or Jessi's in Dance NY, they'd only really have a long-distance. It's hard to keep that up at any age, and really, Mal and Jessi were only friends for a few months before going their seperate ways. So I can't really see them being friends.
I can see the other girls being friendly to each other, saying hi to each other in the halls and working together on group projects if their other friends weren't in the class. I don't think the girls would ever be BFF anymore, but I like to think of them of keeping in touch every once in a while.
