Well, the parents have to be home during meeting times, because that's when they call to set up appointments!

Ugh, Kristy always seemed to b*tch out Jessi for being late That really annoys me that she would be rude to them about being late when they've just come from a sitting job. It's not like they didn't have a decent reason for being late.

They do hold their meetings early enough to where I don't think they'd interfere with weekend plans much. And I guess, being 5-5:30 a lot of parents would be home for dinner around that time... I don't know... I'm justifying the most random thing.

Unless they're Mrs Barrett who is just SO d**n FLAKEY she rings any time she feels like it! In Dawn's Family Feud (I think -- the one where we find out that Mrs. Barrett and Franklin DeWitt are going to get married), Dawn comments on how flakey she's been with the Barrett and DeWitt kids being all insane on each other. She says something like, "Mrs. Barrett is usually so together..." On what planet, Dawn?

She means her looks, doesn't she? They always make the point about Mrs Barrett always looking nice and model-like and glamourous, but her kids and house being a mess. Or we could just chalk it up to inconsistency or delusional!Dawn

In Claudia and the New Girl, they schedule a job for Claud on a meeting day that ends at six, so she had to miss a meeting. It always struck me as odd that they never really had jobs during meeting times, especially on Fridays. And lately I've been thinking, what about those parents who work late? Or get stuck in traffic or something, and don't have access to phone until after the meetings ended? What on earth did they do before cell phones?

This always seemed odd to me, too, but it was another one of those things I decided not to put much thought into. I do remember a few instances of sitting during meetings, though, and they seem to make a kind of big deal out of it.

I never noticed that when I read the books when I was younger. I guess I was too young to realize it though.

Okay i noticed something in mary anne and the secret in the attic. A sitter is needed ( I forget for who) on friday afternoon AND evening... Jessi can't do it because it's also in hte evening. .Um... Um... wouldn't the meeting be somewhere in that gap?

You know what bugs me, is that I can only think of a couple times when someone was actually late for a meeting because of a sitting job, and I can't even remember who they were, but Kristy got all b*tchy at them! That always bugged me. I mean, what did she expect her to do, leave the little kids alone just so she wasn't *gasp* a minute late to a meeting? If I'm not mistaken, I think someone called her out on that one time, and said just that (or maybe thats just my imagination?)

Yeah, and it really annoys me that Kristy gave Jessi the look for being late after a ballet lesson. What, having a ballet lesson that her parents are paying good money for, and driving home in around peak hour traffic wasnt a good enough excuse to be late? Oh well. When I was a kid I didnt think about things being unrealistic in the BSC. I dunno if it was because I was unobservant or I just didnt bother thinking about it because, well its all fiction, or I put it down to them being from a completely different country to me.

I think in 'Dawn's Older Guy' (is the the right name?), Kristy gets annoyed and gives Dawn the Look for being a minute or so late - BECAUSE she was sitting!
