I had a teacher who was only interested in students with either a natural ability for his subject, the select few who were smart/lucky enough not to need to do well, and oh yeah, the boys. He definitely favored boys. His wife was excepting their second child. He blantantly announced that should she deliver a girl he'd only take off a couple days from teaching. If she had a boy, he'd take at least a week, maybe two! The wife had her second little girl so true to form, her husband didn't stay out long at all. Sad thing was, this is the teacher I harbored a huge crush on and admired (before this happened) because of his active (unlike Dawn) environmental practices.

u4me, I HAAATE the teachers who try to be cool. We had one who offered to buy liquor for our parties if we invited him. I thought they were annoying try-hards when I was younger, but looking back on it, I realize they're even more pathetic than I thought. How sad is your life if you have to ingratiate yourself with teenagers to give it meaning? And who even wants to go to high school parties after graduating???

^I had a choir teacher like that. She was so obvious about playing favorites, it was sooo annoying.

I guess my teacher wasn't that bad! He never offered to by liquor. I remember once he planned a field trip to watch a trial (his dad was a judge) and he invited our class, but he also had another government class that was mad that they weren't invited. So, he took half of each class. He drew names to see who would be going, but magically, it was the "cool" kids that he knew would get mad if they weren't chosen. Nice.

^ I can see them getting upset - most kids I know would jump at the chance to get out of school for the day. Especially if they're that in that group of "cool kids" that think school is a joke.

^ Ha! Yes, it was my senior year! It was a senior class. It was a pretty cool field trip, though. I wasn't one of the chosen ones, so I didn't get to go, but I thought it sounded neat to sit in on a trial. I can't remember exactly what kind of trial it was, but it was a good one. I think it was over some kind of violent crime, but I can't remember for sure.
