I thought it would be fun to have a post where we talk about our experiences waiting for a certain BSC book to be published/excited about a certain upcoming BSC book.
For example, I recently mentioned how I remember waiting for Mary Anne to the Rescue to come out. At the time, Mary Anne was my favorite sitter and I always loved reading the novels that she narrated. I remember being a bit annoyed after Mind Your Own Business, Kristy! came out because I kept waiting for a Mary-Anne book. Although, I have to admit that Don't Give Up, Mallory was a good book.
I also remember getting most of my BSC books through the Scholastic Book Order (Go Canada!)
I got a pack that had Claudia Kishi, Middle School Dropout and Mary Anne and the Little Princess.
What are some of your experiences? What do you remember? What books were you excited about coming out and why?

I was so impatient for Kristy for President to come out that I decided I would write it myself. Not a fan fiction, the actual book. I thought I had ESP or something and could write out the book so I wouldn't have to wait a month for it to come out. I wrote like 3 pages, and no, they didn't match the first 3 pages of the book. To my complete disappointment.

To my complete disappointment. Aww, that's cute . Totally something I would've done. Since I checked out most of my BSC books from the library, I was never really on pins and needles waiting impatiently for one to come out (there were a lot of them out by the time I got into them in the late 90s). But if I ordered any from amazon, I would always imagine in my head what the book would be like so that's something I guess .

I don't think there was an instance where I was really anticipating the next book, but I do remember my sister and I fighting over who was going to buy the last copy of Sea City Here We Come, haha. We were such dorks.

I was a bit too young to get the main series as they came out, but I was part of a book club deal where I got the latest Friends Forever book every month, and I remember standing at the mailbox waiting for the book to show up. Graduation Day wasn't part of that, and I didn't actually get a copy of that until last year.

I never really anticipated a particular book's release, either, because I was never really aware of when they were coming out. I was happy to get any I didn't already have!

My sister is a year older than I am and she was into them for a period of time, too. We always used to just share books but we ''owned'' our separate copies. We had an agreement: we would usually just buy whichever book appealed to us more. But she always got first dibs on the Claudia books and I would always get first picks on Mary Anne books.
I remember getting BSC in the USA at a small bookstore where I am originally from and it had that necklace/bracelet thing wrapped up in the plastic. I remember it was kind of dreary, hot and wet (in the summer) when the book came out.
I also originally remember borrowing Mary Anne Breaks the Rules and Kristy and the Dirty Diapers from a friend...
and I remember my sister getting Babysitter's at Shadow Lake one time.
Funny enough, New York New York was the first book in the series that I read, and before reading it, my sister said, "Okay, you can read this one but don't get hooked on it. This is MY thing".
Who would have known... I got hooked! bwaha.

I remember waiting very impatiently for pretty much most of them! The one I was most excited about was Welcome Back, Stacey! because Stacey's my favourite character and I was just dying to have her come back to Stoneybrook.
The local children's bookstore used to call me every month when they got the new BSC book. They had a list of people they'd call, and they wrote the list on a pad of paper that Scholastic sent them specifically for this purpose. Did anyone else's bookstore have one of those? There was of course a picture of the BSC on it, but I don't remember the words that were at the top of it.

I was like wanderingfrog. I was pretty impatient for all of them. The little preview page for the next book that was at the end of each book made everything seem so interesting.

My story is a little diffrenet then everyone else, but here it goes.
I have never read number 60. Never ever. (my library didn't have it) So I am going nuts now trying to find Mary Anne's Makeover (as MA is my second liked character, so I need a physical copy.) I have to stop reading the teaser in 59...

^^ Hope you find it! I remember being sooo excited to go to the book fairs at school because they always had BSC books. I would literally be jumping up and down when it was time to go!

^I don't know what was up with my school because BSC books weren't in the library and were never in the Scholastic order forms or at book fairs. It's like they were anti-series books or something. But they did let us have Amelia Bedelia and Frog and Toad.

I'm rereading Starring the Baby-sitters Club! right now, and I just remembered that I got it for Christmas when I was 12 and it was driving me crazy at the time because I saw it in the store and I knew my mother had bought it for me, but I had to wait until Christmas to read it!

I remember being sooo excited to go to the book fairs at school because they always had BSC books. I would literally be jumping up and down when it was time to go! Me too! My mom worked at my grade school as a recess aid (she just stood outside and yelled at people messing around ;D) and she would always go to the book fairs and buy the BSC books that were there for me so that when me and my class got downstairs to see the fair she would have the books ready for me .
