Where do the "early" books end and the "later" books start for you? What do you think signifies the transition?

For me the "later" books start around after Dawn's Big Move (#67), because by the time they hit the 70s I had stopped buying them regularly.

I categorize mine into early, middle, and later. My middle starts at Mary Anne and the Great Romance (30) and the later starts after Farewell, Dawn (88).

^Yeah, I def. think of an early, middle and later.
For me, early goes until Dawn and the Big Sleepover. Then, the middle goes until Abby joins. Abby signifies the later books.

I have always thought of Abby as the beginning of the later books as well.

I've never really thought about it but probably consider them more early, middle and late. I actually consider the "late" maybe as the ones after 100 but even more around the last 10 or so. They just have a different, more "final" feeling. The early for me are pretty much the ones before Hello Mallory.

For me, early is about mid 20s. I can't pinpoint it exactly, but its when the series stops making logical chronological sense. Probably #24? Then there's the middle books, which includes the "Richard + Sharon 4Eva" arc, and goes until a little after Mary Anne gets her makeover and I stopped reading. Then everything else is the later or "newer" books (also, the ones I didn't read when I was younger).

since I grew up only knowing the existance of the books up to like Mary Anne's makeover, my list was a bit different from the ones posted so far early - book 1 to around when the Delaney's are gone. (I dont know why but the Delaneys were such an obsession of mine. My internet alias (aside from Crystal Clair) is even Amanda! Then the book after 45 have a later feeling to them. how funny, come to think of it. book 45 isn't even that late in the series, in fact it's not even close to the midway books (65-67)

I think of "early" as lasting to about the mid-twenties (maybe up to 26 when Mimi dies.) In one sense, I think of "later" as books 94-131, but that's just because MA and the Memory Garden is the last one I bought "new." But I also think of there being a shift around the 60s, but I'm not sure I can pinpoint an exact book. Maybe Dawn's Big Move, because that's when the "original BSC" members start shifting all over the place.

The book club I joined when I was little stopped sending the books at #60 Mary Anne's makeover, so I consider anything after that the "later" books.

which book club were you in, dawnomite? i think mine sent me books through the seventies. Lol I'm guessing I have the same picture as dawnomite.I'm another Dawn fan! I can't remember now. But I know that they would send newsletters to our school with books you could buy through order, and I ordered the BSC books, and my friend told me they stopped sending them after a certain number and I was like nah thats silly. But they did at 60. Oh well, I still absolutely treasure the ones I have, and am slowly building the rest of my collection.
