The cover of Claudia and Mean Janine has Claudia and Janine with a young boy with short blond hair (probably a client of Claudia's) The book also says that Stacey got a haircut. When I was a kid I thought the boy was Stacey.

I think the kid was Jamie Newton? Can't remember.
Funnily enough, I used to think on the (original) Truth About Stacey cover that Charlotte was Stacey and Stacey was Mrs McGill! I knew it totally didn't fit the story - the entire scene at the candy store and the description of Stacey as a blonde, but I thought Stacey looked too old to be 12!

I like the Kristy and the snobs cover and Kristy's great idea.

Kristy, Mary Anne, and Abby usually look the same from cover to cover as well.

One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored at work is try to pick one cover for each member that I think best represents how I picture them. I have some favorites that are super easy, and others change all the time.
My quintessential covers are:
Kristy: Kristy Thomas, Dog Trainer
I read this recently and while the book was boring and useless, she looks totally cute on the cover. She's also wearing more what I always pictured her in clotheswise -- as a kid I didn't know anyone who always wore knitted sweaters and detested turtlenecks (still do on me). Every time they described Kristy's "uniform" I always changed it in my head to jeans and a t-shirt or hooded sweatshirt, which made more sense to me.
Claudia: Claudia, Queen of the Seventh Grade
She looks so cute on the cover! As a kid I was often disappointed about how Claudia didn't look Japanese enough. In retrospect, I think she just didn't look like the Japanese kids I knew, but still.
Mary Anne: Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic
This is probably the best. I think this is almost exactly how I pictures Mary Anne growing up, even though I didn't read the book until my more recent BSC renaissance. Perfect Mary Anne. I never knew her with short hair as a kid, but my pick for post-makeover is Dawn's Family Feud. She looks so cute! And pissed! And thirteen years old, ffs!
Stacey: Stacey's Big Crush
Stacey looks like a very pretty thirteen year old girl in this cover. She doesn't look 34, she's wearing a cute dress. I absolutely love it. This is one of my faves that never falters.
Dawn: Dawn and the Impossible Three
Both the new and old versions of the cover are nice. To be honest, I don't think there is a single cover that comes close to portraying how I picture Dawn (uh, maybe because she never has long white blond hair), but these are pretty good. Also, I find Dawn super likable in the beginning of the series, and detestable by the end, so I can't even consider a later one.
Mallory: Mallory's Christmas Wish
Okay, her outfit is horrible (seriously, what?!) but that's so Mallory. She looks young and awkward, but in a nice way, like so many 11 year olds do (I sure as hell wouldn't show you a picture of me at 11!). She's dorky, but it's sort of endearing and definitely reasonable. Plus, there's something I love about her deer in the headlights face.
Jessi: Jessi and the Dance School Phantom
As much as this book irritates me (UM, TELL YOUR PARENTS) Jessi looks just like I see her on the cover. Cute, tallish, with a ballerina-like body. She probably look more like 13 than 11, but it's better than Jessi's Secret Language where she looks 29. This is how my mind translates Jessi.
Abby:
I like Abby a lot, actually, but haven't read enough of her books yet to have a favorite cover.
Logan : Mary Anne v. Logan
Logan looks so cute on this cover that once, when I was probably 11, I had a dream about him looking just like that. And then I cut his face out of my cover of the book and kept it in my wallet. OMG why am I telling you this?!?!
Shannon: Kristy and the Snobs
I'm in love with this picture of Shannon, even if my own version of her is a little bit different. It comes closest. Plus, as a kid I was obsessed with how beautiful Astrid was and always told people I wanted a Bernese Mountain Dog, as if I'd ever seen one in real life. I think people thought I knew about animals, or something, and I definitely liked how fancy the name sounded. When my brother got one five or so years ago he said, 'Remember how you always wanted a Bernese Mountain dog?' I couldn't even admit to him then that this cover was the reason.

I love the cover of Kristy Thomas, Dog-Trainer too! She's very cute there. Agree with most of your choices...I think for Abby I liked Welcome to the BSC, Abby and Abby's Unvalentine -- both outfits on those covers are nice.

Great list, superpana! I have some different opinions, of course, but it was fun reading your comments.
Dawn and the Impossible Three - I only know what the original cover looks like and I don't like it! What is it with Dawn and ridiculous facial expressions? Another example is Dawn Saves the Planet.
My favorite Dawn cover is actually a Stacey narrated book - Stacey's Choice. Her sweater looks lovely and it's probably the most accurate hair-wise. I also love the cover of Dawn on the Coast.
Unfortunately I don't have Kristy Thomas, Dog Trainer (sounds like a useless book) so I can't comment on the cover.
Well done also, for being able to choose a half-decent Jessi cover. I don't know why she always looked like she was in her mid-30s.
My favorite Jessi cover is probably Happy Holidays, Jessi. It's very soft and festive looking.
I'll have to think of more favorites!

I'll have to look at some books with Stacey on them. I always thought she looked rather unattractive on the covers.

macca, I agree on the cover Dawn and the impossible three! Everyone seems to love it, but she has such a weird expression on it! I don't really like it. I do really like her on Dawn saves the planet, though. She seems very Dawn like to me.

I'll have to look at some books with Stacey on them. I always thought she looked rather unattractive on the covers. Yeah, I never really thought the Stacey covers did her justice either. The cover of Stacey's Lie is alright, though.

I really like the original cover of Dawn and the Impossible Three- I think the weird expression is one of those "Holy Crap, I wish I was anywhere but here at the moment". She also kinda looks like Mary Anne described in MA Saves the Day (with the exception of the hair)- not exactly pretty....

^Aw, I actually thought she was quite pretty on that original cover and on The Ghost at Dawn's House. Then starting with the Little Miss Stoneybrook book she got weird looking.

Ack, inge! Dawn Saves the Planet, isn't that the one where the picture is sort of funny and she looks really oddly proportioned? And she's pointing to an easel and her arms and body are just ... really weird.
Maybe this is one of those with the ones with two covers, because if I'm thinking of the right one it is very strange!

I've always liked the cover of SS# 9, The Babysitters Remember. I think it portrays them all pretty accurately. Also, you gotta love the way Stacey is looking disgustedly at Mary Anne, probably because she thinks Mary Anne is so stale for bringing a teddy bear to a sleepover.
