Does anyone actually ENJOY the baby-sitting in the books? I think that as a kid, I enjoyed it, although I still generally preferred the regular plots. But once I started baby-sitting myself and realized that no kids behave as well as the kids in the Stoneybrook, EVER, I just shook my head in dismay and knew in my heart that not even with the dibblest kid-kit would children consistently go to bed on time/do their homework without protest and not beg to do things their parents wouldn't let them do.
Plus, let's face it, the baby-sitting segments are boring!

I wish there could've been no babysitting whatsoever. I know that was the whole premise of the series but still... Or at least had it taken a back burner to the girls personal lives. I've never enjoyed the baby-sitting aspect of it. I read them if they are connected to the main plot or if I've never read the book before.
Otherwise, yeah, they're really boring and unnecessary.

I think I'm alone but do actually like the baby-sitting parts - most of the time. Some of the-sitting does get a little boring but for the most part, I enjoy reading about the kids. Maybe this is because I like little kids but am not good with them and don't have a chance to be around them (and probably wouldn't want to be after seeing what they are really like). It's fun for me to read about the BSC taking care of babies because this is something that I never get to do. I'm sure it's different for those who can and do spend time with kids.

Sometimes I skip those parts, sometimes I don't. It really depends on the book.

Sometimes if it's a book I haven't read in awhile or one with a subplot I totally ignored, I'll pick it up and read the babysitter chapters especially, since it's new to me. Most of them do feel inferior to the personal life aspects, but once in awhile I'll find I enjoyed the sitting chapters...but like starrynight said it does depend on the book. Also, I think it's different with the first ten books or so, when the sitting didn't feel so disconnected from the plot and both were weaved in pretty well. It's the later books with very obvious main plots (boyfriend troubles, etc.) when the job chapters just don't flow with the rest of the book.

I don't skip the babysitting subplots, but they're definitely not my favorite part of the books.
It's very unrealistic how whenever they put babies to bed it's just a matter of laying them in their cribs and turning out the lights. Ha!

I think the unrealistic aspect of the babysitting is why I like reading about it Much better than reality of a screaming, teething child.

Sometimes I like the baby-sitting parts, sometimes I don't. I never skip them, though. Then again, I also read all the Chapter Twos.
Even when I was a kid myself, I wondered why the kids in the books behaved so well for their sitters. Whenever my brother and I had a baby-sitter, we spent most of the time beating the crap out of each other. And we've always gotten along very well in general. It was just, you know, something we did when there was a baby-sitter instead of our parents to tell us not to. I used to wonder why there weren't any kids in the BSC books who acted like that.

^ LOL, you're so gonna win this if you even read "chapter 2" I don't mind the baby-sitting part that much, but it's not my favourite part of the books.l I prefer it when the kids are actually working on one of the themes of the books, like oneof their thousands of parties or soemthing than a random "oh, havent had a baby-sitting hapter for a bit, better put one in."

^ yeah, random babysitting chapters are annoying, but I think the talent shows and plays were much worse.

Depends on who the clients are. If it's for the pike kids then forget it. The ugly brats. Once you've read one pike job, you've read them all.
I swear the pike parents pretty much take advantage considering Mrs Pike doesn't work. The pike kids seem to feature in every single bsc book.

I don't ever skip the baby-sitting chapters. Sometimes they're boring and I skim them, but I still read them. I hate it when I'm into the main personal-life plot about like, Claudia, then suddenly there's a random chapter where Jessi is baby-sitting.

Yeah, I was thinking of them. They're the main ones with the plays and talent shows. So boring.
Yeah, it's almost as if the writer thought "oops, this is a BSC book, better stick some babysitting in there!"

And that freaking library. I always assumed the Pike household was a pigsty, so when I read about their library, I imagined people taking out books and finding grimy handprints on pages or cookie crumbs stuck in them.

I liked that library! I wish it featured more than just the one chapter.
