I guess I really am obsessed with these books and am on this board too much . Lately, I've found myself relating everything to the books and they are the first thought that comes into my mind at different times. The latest examples are last night when my dad was fixing our toilet (it kept making a gurgling noise and needed a new valve), I kept laughing and saying "it's the toilet monster" from the subplot with the Kormans. A few days ago, when I opened a chewy granola bar, I looked at the wrapper and thought "Chewy - I can't stand Perkins' dog." I also find myself feeling inspired by the events and community service in the books and wish that I could do more for people after reading something like Get Well Soon Mallory. And I am constantly getting insights into my own life and others' from the books, which is kind of good. Anyone else do any of these things or am I truly obsessed and too far gone?

If youre too far gone, then we all are. After all, most of us are in our late teens and 20's, and we're still reading childrens' books that went off the market 7 years ago.

haha I think you're fine, aln We can all relate. I love reading BSC books and discussing them with all of you guys! People who find out about it in real life think I'm a weirdo, but I try to keep it on the downlow (kinda hard though when all my books are displayed on my bookshelf in my living room. haha.)

I agree. If you're obsessed, we all are! And I enjoy my obsession quite a bit ;D

Sounds like I'm in good company Glad to know I'm not losing my mind. As for letting everyone know about my obsession, I'm totally proud of it and tell people all the time that they should read the BSC. My dad actually has and really likes the books and I tell my mom about them all the time (I read them "for her" since she doesn't read much - claims it bothers her eyes and gives her a headache.) By the way, the reason I have been on here so much today (in case anyone is getting annoyed by the "new" things that I'm making come up on the board , it is because I am trying to do some research online and fighting with slow dialup but this board works really quick so I'm on here while I'm waiting... and waiting...and waiting.

Yeah, I think we can all relate to your obsession. I find that I go through phases sometimes, though. Like right now I'm reading Claudia & the Museum Mystery and it's really boring me, so I have put the BSC to the back of my mind a bit. But there are other times when I just can't stop visiting the board & posting on all the threads.

You also have to keep in mind that almost all of us post analysis of books and characters as if they were either real, or from serious literature, and we mean it! That's definitely obsession.

Actually, I consider this board and the books good "practice" for my analytical skills and other scholarly pursuits - ( I sometimes tell people reading them is "research of child literature" - and find myself mentally composing book review/critique/analysis/whatever you want to call it after I read each one. This has been carrying over to other series lately, like the Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew.

Me too. It makes me feel good to feel happy like a kid again and read these books.

^me too! It's annoying when I have absolutely no time. I feel like I haven't read BSC in quite a while. Between working full-time and being in the middle of 3 classes, it doesn't leave a lot of time (esp when one of my classes is childrens literature, so I have to read OTHER kids books for that. BSC doesn't seem to be on the list, bummer!). I'm making time for Dawn on the Coast today though!

Hehe, there's a used bookstore in town that I occasionally stop in to see if there are any new books. I ran in on my way to the bus stop the other day, and a guy and a girl from my department were in there studying. I said hello and the guy asked what I was up to. I said I was just looking for a book then heading home to work. OF COURSE he asked what, so I responded honestly. She looked at me like I was nuts, and he thought it was just the funniest thing ever. He even asked me if I'd found any BSC the next day when he saw me in the office. Oh, whatever. They just don't understand.
