Spin off from the Jessi's Gold Medal thread... that title was one of the worst, as we've discussed, total spoiler. But what other bad ones can you think of?
I never liked The Truth About Stacey, considering we found out her "secret" in the first book.
Dawn and the Impossible Three was misleading as well, considering the Three were far from impossible (they were quite good kids!) it was the mother who really drove Dawn crazy.
Goodbye Stacey, Goodbye annoyed me for some reason. Just Goodbye Stacey would've been enough. And Welcome Back Stacey was a total spoiler as well, considering the whole book was about Stacey's dilemma over NYC or Stoneybrook.

I didn't like Farewell, Dawn, because she just came right back in #98. And mystery at Claudia's House, because it got my hopes up and then bleh.

Little Miss Stoneybrook... and Dawn. I never understand why the title is written that way! It sounds so ominous... Why not Dawn and Little Miss Stoneybrook or Dawn and the Little Miss Stoneybrook Contest?

I'm not a big fan of "Mind Your Own Business, Kristy!" and "Don't Give Up, Mallory" The way they're phrased it's like the title is talking to the character directly, and that's just weird. Especially since none of the other titles (that I can think of...) are like that.

^ I don't like the newer titles like you mentioned. They're kind of weird and sound like whoever comes up with the titles was running out of steam.
Kristy + Bart = ? is sort of awkward. In my mind, I read is as "Kristy plus Bart equals question mark," though I don't think that's how it's supposed to be read! I love Little Miss Stoneybrook...and Dawn, I love how ominous it sounds!
One of the worst titles is actually from one of my favourites: Claudia and the Middle School Mystery. There wasn't a mystery at all! They knew who did it and why very early on in the book, I don't see how that qualifies as a mystery...

I hate the cover for Goodbye, Stacey, Goodbye -- Stacey is smiling as the car is leaving, and her friends are smiling as in -- "hey, have fun! we'll see you next week!" Even though in the book, her friends are very sad when she's leaving.

I didn't like Farewell, Dawn, because she just came right back in #98. And mystery at Claudia's House, because it got my hopes up and then bleh. I remember when Farewell, Dawn first came out. I flipped through it and saw that Dawn was going back to California. Before I thought, I said, "AGAIN?!?" right there in the middle of the store. I got some funny looks for that one. :-) One of my least favorite titles is probably Jessi's Gold Medal, because as someone said earlier, it's a total spoiler. It makes the whole scene at the Mini-Olympics anti-climactic.

All of those bug me, except Jessi's Gold Medal isn't terrible, despite the total spoiler. Of course, sometimes what the title suggests isn't what happens. ;D Claudia and Mean Janine always bothered me, too, because it should have been Mean Claudia and Janine. ;D Don't Give up Mallory would have made more sense for the Get Well Soon Mallory book, I think, since I always think that is the one it is. I also always get Stacey's Broken Heart confused with Stacey's Ex Boyfriend, since that title seems to indicate a break up to me. I can probably come up with some other ones if I think about this more. ;D

I remember back in the day, asking to borrow my friend's copy of "Claudia and the Sad Goodbye" and when she brought it to school, I was like "ohhh, no I wanted the one where Stacey moves away!"

I think the title that always bothered me the most was always " Little miss Stoneybrook...and Dawn." The way it was worded just always sounded so awkward to me. Even now it still does.

^ I don't like the newer titles like you mentioned. They're kind of weird and sound like whoever comes up with the titles was running out of steam. Yes! I always thought exactly the same thing. The newer titles seemed really forced. Kristy + Bart = ? is sort of awkward. In my mind, I read is as "Kristy plus Bart equals question mark," though I don't think that's how it's supposed to be read![/quote] That's my problem with Claudia's Freind Friend. For one thing, it's annoying to type and I read it as "Claudia's Friend Friend" which just sounds stupid. Yes! I always thought that too. Maybe the mystery was supposed to be how they were going to clear Claudia's name, though? In the back of some of the books, that one's listed as Claudia and the Death of Mimi. I can understand why they changed the title.

^ Me too. I don't think I'd want to read a book called the "Death of Mimi." ;D

Wow, Claudia and the Death of Mimi gets a (posthumous?) award for Worst Title Ever.

Seriously...someone was having an off day when they thought of that one.
