I just read Kristy's Mystery Admirer and started thinking about some of the assumptions that the girls make. While these may be normal for 13 year olds (and the authors' reminders that the girls are actually 13 and 11 instead of the mini adults they usually make them out to be), I remember even thinking they were stupid when I was a kid. I'm sure there are lots that I am missing: Kristy: Someone is trying to kidnap her because she is Watson's stepdaughter (Kristy's Mystery Admirer) Claudia: Janine is involved in some type of espionage (the Mystery at Claudia's House); she's adopted (Claudia and the Great Search) Stacey: Scott is in "luv" with her (Boy Crazy Stacey) Mary Anne: She is a bridesmaid in Dawn's dad's wedding (this goes for Dawn too - Here Come the Bridesmaids); the whole burglar alarm idea (Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls) Dawn: the guy who owned the vacant lot that they cleaned up would be happy that they trespassed on his property and planted a garden without consulting them (don't remember the book) Jessi: Aunt C is getting married (don't remember the exact book) Mallory: authors write about their own lives (Mallory Pike, #1 Fan)
These are just the ones that really stick in my mind or ones from the books I read recently. Any others that I'm missing? I'm sure there are a ton.

;D I love this list! But you thought of everything that immediately came to me when I saw the title!! JESSI - Mal is a racist because she was shy upon meeting Jessi's extended family for the first time (yeah, 'cause I'm sure Mallory had no idea they'd also be black ) JESSI - The Ramsey's don't need to arrange childcare for Squirt when Mrs Ramsey returns to full time work, 'cause Jessi is a sitter herself! STACEY - Teacher Wes was attracted to her and after reading her love poem, would be hers forever. MALLORY - "life would be a picnic" if she was thirteen Great thread, aln1982!

Jessi - the boy she met at Shadow Lake (Daniel?) was going to "profess his love" for her at the lodge dance
Stacey - her parents would fall back in love if she arranged for them to have a dinner or carriage ride together
Claudia - her ski instructor Guy was falling in love with her over the course of their lessons; Shawna would confess to cheating off her test if she used "incriminating" words in class

After rereading the thread I got all bugged out about this one again This is not really about one girl, but about the Pike parents: - Think just because someone is old they will like only boring tasteless food. (mallory and the ghost cat)

TBH, At one point in the book I was pretty convinced Claudia was adopted.
Not really dumb but it is pretty annoying when a particular BM is in a situation, they will say how another member would react when in a similar situation.
Claudia: Thinking David Michael was being eaten by a shark.
What's an espionage?

Thought of another one (thanks to Macca's thread on this book) Claudia: Peaches and Russ need her help when Lynn is first born, can't live without her, and are crabby about something else rather than put out with her.

Jessi thinking Red and the other actor guy were going to come after her and Quint because they saw them through the window and even heard their names in Jessi and the Jewel Thieves. Well, and just the whole thinking they were jewel thieves thing in general.

Ooh, I got some...
Jessi thinking that Derek Masters would pick her up with a chauffer and limo and that she could become an actor after being an extra once.
Mallory thinking her hair dye would somehow wash out while she was at Universal Studios and that being blonde would automatically get her on tv.

I love this thread! One of my favourites: Jessi thinking she was automatically cast as Peter Pan and that's why she didn't get a call-back.
