^ Good point. I think you might be right. I forgot about the foreshadowing of Jeff's move. That was another big one.

The ghostwriters likely worked on the books at the same time, a few months in advance. But seriously, I wouldn't have trouble believing that one day Ann found out that the books weren't selling as well and then went crazy and decided to send Mallory to boarding school, burn down Mary Anne's house and start a new series.

I think they started talk of mal going to boarding school midway through the series, decided not to do it, and then began to phase out mal and jessi, ending with mal going to boarding school.

^ I wish they wouldn't have phased any of them out, or at least not Mal and Jessi because they have become my favorites ;D. But I guess they had to end the series sometime (well, not necessarily..... ;D) I wonder if Ann got tired of writing the books.

have mal and jessi become your number one favorites? interesting well i think it's impossible for ann to get tired of writing books she wasn't writing... maybe the ghostwriters got tired

^ Totally agree about Ann not writing the books. Maybe they ran out of ghost writers because they weren't getting enough credit ;D (though they do get more than the writers of the new Boxcar Children books that are still "written" by a woman who has been dead for over 30 years ;D)

there's no indication in the boxcar books anywhere of who actually wrote it? i've always hated boxcar so i've never looked.

I remember thinking when I was little that "Stacey and the Cheerleaders" and "Stacey's Lie" were actually foreshadowing for "Stacey vs. the BSC." Even when they were first coming out (so before I knew there would be a "Stacey vs. the BSC"), I thought it was weird that Stacey had two books in a row where she's sort of "away" from the BSC, doing something they don't really approve of, and especially in #76, doing something "bad." I just reread "Cheerleaders" (and gosh, that one was really funny!) and I'm rereading "Lie" now and I still kind of get the same feeling--even if it wasn't mentioned in every book in between, I feel like "Cheerleaders" definitely sets the stage for that big Stacey arc, but then it's like a false alarm. Even the back copy is all "will Stacey and her new boyfriend be too cool for the BSC?" and it's like, nah, not for another 13 books or so.

^ I just noticed when I read it again that Stacey gets embarrassed by the BSC in Cheerleaders, too, and saw it as foreshadowing. I didn't realize it was so many books in advance, though, but thought it was intentional.

I remember thinking the same thing when I first read Stacey and the Cheerleaders, too. I also think there's a Claudia book (Perfect Boy or Crazy Peaches?) where Claudia mentions something about Stacey drifting away from the rest of the club.

I always thought those books foreshadowed Stacey VS the BSC as well. It seemed to be something they were building up to the big explosion.

I think it's from one of the UK covers where they have like three books in one, but of course kitkat will know which one it is.
