There was foreshadowing about Claudia and the Terrible Truth in Abby and the Best Kid Ever. In Abby and the Best Kid Ever, Abby narrates how Mr. Nicholls watched his sons like a hawk and that his sons seemed to obey like remote-control puppets.

i don't think this is foreshadowing so much, but it's funny. in MA and too many boys, MA writes a letter to kristy:

Dawn moving back to California was foreshadowed. One example is when she talked to Mary Anne in Mary Anne's Makeover about missing her family in California and another example is in California Girls when she narrates "It's good to be home." Also, in Maid Mary Anne, Dawn says, "The sun feels good. It makes me miss Jeff and California and..." Also, in Dawn On The Coast, there's foreshadowing for California Girls when Mr. Shafer said "Why not bring all those friends of yours. All your friends in the Baby-sitters Club" when Dawn would visit him again.

I found this thread at last. In Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery, Mary Anne frantically comes home hoping "Tigger hasn't been killed or cat-napped."

In Dawn and Too Many Sitters, Dawn mentions how she and Mary Anne made plans to go to the movies with Stacey and Robert, "but for some reason", Robert cancels at the last minute.

^ Wenonah. Good one, Virgoscorpio. Wouldn't it have been odd (the group) if Robert had not cancelled and he, Stacey, Mary Anne, and Dawn had gone to the movies?

Maybe not, because at that time they all had Hawaii on the brain. So that gives the group something collective to talk about.

Logan hung out with Mary Anne and various other BSCers all the time. I don't see why Robert doing it would be awkward. Unless Robert and Stacey were the kind of couple who ignore their surroundings and start to suck face as soon as they get near each other.

Oldhickory, I wonder if sometimes Mary Anne wished that were true. I mean that Dawn was as committed to MA as MA thought she was to Dawn. I am not speaking in romantic terms at all, just in their friendship. I think part of why MA became so angry about Dawn and latched onto her, is that some part of her realized that she was not the most important friend in Dawn's life. I hope that made sense!
Sparklymouse, maybe it struck me as odd because we "know" Logan a little better than Robert? Or even though Logan rents carriages and fixes romantic meals for Mary Anne, he never (thankfully) helped her to deceive her father about the two of them hanging out the way Robert did on Fire Island. I also think even though MA and Logan were together longer and I still wished they had remained a couple (as they originally were, early books), that Stacey and Robert were often written as more romantically involved.

zoar3, when you talk about Mary Anne thinking that Dawn wasn't the most important friend in Dawn's life, I would argue that it goes both ways. In fact, I would argue that Dawn felt the same way with Kristy and Mary Anne's friendship (and in the later books, Mary Anne goes on to say that Kristy is her best friend and fails to mention Dawn).

Virgoscorpio, I definitely see your point and agree. I did not read any of the CD's nor have I read the Friends Forever Series many times despite owning them all. However, I think once Dawn moved (for good) back to CA it was obvious that both she and Mary Anne no longer thought of one another as their respective best friends. I think it's been said on here that Dawn (possibly in her diaries)? never (or rarely) mentioned MA or Stoneybrook. As for Mary Anne and Kristy, aside from pre-Dawn, MA's notebook entry to Kristy in Kristy and the Haunted Mansion, and when MA thought Kristy had been the SMS student, did we ever "see" either of them (MA or K) acting the part of best friends? I don't think we did. :/ We were just told the fact every chapter 2. P.S. Very cool how you captured Kristy's handwriting in your avatar. I don't even know how to make a regular avatar (aside from choosing one of the choices on here) let alone make a "fancy" one.
