In Claudia and the World's Cutest Baby, when Claudia says that "Hermono Bay" is the City of Brotherly Love.

^What's the context for that? Isn't "hermano" Spanish for brother, in which case Claudia thought that through...at least a lot more thoroughly than guessing Kermit the Frog for "The Little Corporal" in #7!

Yeah, Hermosa Beach. And Claudia did try to think it through...admirable. ;D She was like, "What's the Spanish word for brother? 'Hermano?' What was that place Dawn mentioned seeing in California..." And the teacher was like

Well, this does bring to mind a story. Stick with me here. I heard this being told by one of the elders during the funeral for a church member who lived to age 95 and died last year.
This woman was Japanese. The elder's wife had heard a missionary mention something about how to say a few phrases in Japanese, and she wanted to remember how to greet Mrs. Fujii. Transliterated, a "good morning" greeting is "O-hi-o". Well, the elder's wife couldn't quite remember it when the next Sunday came around, but she knew it was like the name of a place. She said, very solemnly, to Mrs. Fujii, "Philadelphia."

LOL!! How could someone even conceive that Philadelphia could be a Japanese word? ;D

"Hermosa" actually means "beautiful" in Spanish.
It is practically a miracle that I know this, since my entire Spanish vocabulary consists of about ten words.

Also in Claudia and the Worlds' Cutest Baby, her teacher mentions about touring the US Mint, and Claudia leans over and whispers to Abby about how she just loves mint. LoL.

LoL. there was an old, old Family Circus cartoon on that premise, showing the family outside the Philadelphia mint, with one of the children asking if mint was the only flavor they have there.

OT, but I HATE the Family Circus so much. It is not a cartoon and does not deserve to have the top spot in the newspaper. It's a completely irrational hatred, I know.
But I guess that's kind of cute. I don't know, I mostly just remember that there are a lot of them that I go "that's not funny or clever" .

I'm not all that fond of Family Circus myself, but I remember that one. Actually, I don't especially like the comics where time doesn't pass (Peanuts excepted); rather I like For Better or for Worse, 9 Chickweed Lane, and Jumpstart that take place in real time.
