I don't tend to have a good track record when it comes to posting my own threads- but here goes nothing...
I thought we could use this thread to post what we think are unpopular opinions about the BSC...
My own (seemingly) unpopular opinion - I don't like Ashley Wyeth in "Claudia and the New Girl" - and I think the BSC are well within their rights (in some cases) to be annoyed with her. I don't fault Claudia for having another friend, but to hang out with that friend and shirk her own responsibilities...thats what I always had a problem with. Besides, I always thought Ashley was a bit of a snot...

Ashley was a bit of a snot. You can be passionate about something without having tunnel vision about it. She made Claudia feel guilty for caring about things besides art.
My unpopular opinion: I don't think it was weird that Charlie was always the one to bring Kristy to and from the BSC meetings. That is what you get stuck with when you have a license, a car, and younger siblings. I'm sure he missed some days the same way people missed meetings due to sittings jobs. It had to have happened but wasn't ever mentioned.

i agree with you about charlie. people just make fun of him cause it's funny to think he has some pervy motive.
mine: i can totally see where stacey is coming from in stacey vs the bsc. i also don't think she's a sl*t at all; i think she's just an attractive girl with an attractive personality.

I don't think stacey is slutty at all either. I also don't think Charlie driving kristy around is weird or pervy, but sometimes it's just funny to think about. I also don't hate Karen and never really had any type of opinion about her before I entered fandom. I probably thought she was a cute kid.
Now she occasionally annoys me a little, but not enought ot justify the hatred that I hear.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not...but I LOVED the Stacey/Sam relationship and was irrationally angry that she basically ended it with her crush on Wes. Probably my first 'ship'

^Oh, I'm totally all for Stacey/Sam. Is that unpopular? I don't really know; but it's my favorite pairing as well. I was not happy when Sam decided that he wanted to see other people, but practice flirting with Stacey. They were so cute together!

Hehe, I remember the very first book, and I'm pretty sure Stacey was wearing teddy bears somewhere (earrings, maybe?) and Sam sees her in the kitchen with David Michael and thinks she's cute awwww lol.

I don't dislike Shannon for the way she acted in her story/refusing to go to Paris.

Again, not sure if this is unpopular, but I found Dawn tiresome and was actually glad when she went back to CA...
Oh...and I never liked Mallory...found her equally tiresome for different reasons...

I never thought MA deserved the 'sensitive member of the group' label. Crying every time someone dares call you out on something is just annoying, not sensitive. I do think that in some of the books (especially the earlier ones), she was pretty considerate of her friends and people's feelings, but most of the time, she was just a really passive-aggressive person. She had no more real 'sensitive' moments than everyone else. In saying that, I think Claudia or Jessi (or Mal) should have been labelled sensitive. How many times did Claudia ease tensions in the club with a well-timed offer of junk food? And Jessi and Mal were often considerate of their friends' feelings, too (I remember 'Jessi and the Awful Secret' as being one good example of Jessi's... niceness?)

^ Yes, Jessi and Mal very often didn't take sides and just basically heard the others out. Some people might have considered this 'chicken' on their part, because they didn't want to get involved, and maybe that was part of it, but it was really a smart move, I think. I try to do the same - when two of my friends are fighting, I listen without judgment on both sides and try not to really take anyone's side, because it's not my fight. While the others were ready to jump on a particular side, Jessi and Mal always seemed to remain neutral. I like how on the cover of Kristy's Worst Idea everyone is shouting and pointing at each other and Mal and Jessi are just on the floor plugging their ears ;D lol

I don't either. I actually enjoy reading about the dysfunctional Kilbournes, and liked seeing Shannon act irresponsibly, if that makes sense. I've always felt that Shannon's Book is a really substantial book. I don't dislike Shannon for the way she acted in her story/refusing to go to Paris.

I agree on the Charlie thing. I'm seven years older than my brother, and I had to drive him EVERYWHERE when I got my license. I didn't even get paid fifty cents for it, either! And I, too, am totally for Stacey/Sam. Maybe I just like the Thomas brothers. Hmm...
I really like Abby. I think she was a snot in Abby the Bad Sport (I also think Kristy totally overreacted to something that wasn't any of her business), but otherwise, I like her a lot. I like her puns and cheesy sense of humor, and I don't mind that they added a Jewish Kristy clone instead of having Anna join. And Abby's Portrait is definitely in my top ten list of favorites in the world of BSC books.
Also, I really didn't like the movie at all. The TV show was awesome^2, but the movie did nothing for me. The plot was lame and the characters just didn't fit my picture of them.

I agree about Shannon. I never had a problem with Shannon's Story, nor does it offend me that she knew she could go to Paris the next year.
I also somewhat agree about the movie. I didn't like it at all at the time, but now I don't mind it as much. I like the show more, but wish they would have done more with it.
Another unpopular opinion of mine? I don't care that Karen didn't get in trouble in Baby-Sitters On Board. I wouldn't have got into much trouble either -- no one wants to ruin their vacation, and it really wasn't that big of a deal, at least to me. I would have been more upset at Kristy for letting Karen run off like that -- I mean, I know it's an ocean liner and the chances of Karen just disappearing are slim -- but she probably should have gone with her.
