I've had so many bad roommate experiences. I kind of have an urge to go write about them on livejournal.

Some people are just better off living off by themselves and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that greer.
I had a really creepy roommate the first week of my freshman year in college. She would stare at me all the time. She wound up getting kicked out of the dorm after a week because it was discovered she was a lesbian, a definite no-no at the conservative school I went to.

i can live with people, just not share a room with them, except if we're together.

It majorly sucks that your school kicked people out of the dorms for being gay. I mean, I'm pretty outraged about that. But I'm glad you only had to live with her for a week if she was creepy, because bad roommates also majorly suck. I'll go into my own bad roommate story (I mean I had one, not that I was one) when I am feeling less lazy and more talkative.

I put all of mine up on LJ. I got really tired halfway through so I didn't exactly put all of the crazy details in. I don't really want to put the post public though because I put names in.

I felt bad for her that she was kicked out of the dorm, although I was relieved to get her out of my room. I don't know why they couldn't have just put her in a private room. This is the same school where they institued a no-smoking policy on campus so they could justify kicking another student out of school, though.

Or people could just be less homophobic.

why would a homosexual student even want to go to a school where a homosexual student would be kicked out of the domitory? the environment of the school is something i weighed heavily when deciding where to apply. i'm not homosexual and i wouldn't want to go a school where that would happen.

Well, what I don't understand (beyond the policy) is why the student, who I would assume would know the rule, would come out of the closet. Did someone else out her? Or did someone just make a ruling that she was homosexual?

This is the same school where they institued a no-smoking policy on campus so they could justify kicking another student out of school, though. They instituted a no-smoking policy at one of the universities that I went to... and it was a completely idiotic idea, because they did absolutely nothing to enforce it. So basically, they had all these signs about how it was a smoke-free university, but people continued to smoke wherever they wanted outside (there had already been policies in place so that people couldn't smoke in the buildings, which were enforced). It was so stupid. The other university that I went to, their policy was that you couldn't smoke within something like 20 feet of a building, and the first time you got caught, you got a warning, and every time after that, you got a $50 fine. I thought that made so much more sense. On the other supposedly "smoke-free" campus, people can smoke right outside of doorways and windows and all the smoke can get into the buildings and nobody can do a thing about it.

we have the 20ft rule on my campus too. that doesn't stop my next door neighbor from hitting the bong all day long.

We actually have the 20ft rule in our entire state. No smoking in any business at all, including bars (though I think like cigar bars have an exception for obvious reasons), and you have to be 20 feet away from the door. I think you can be fined, if someone cares to call, for indoors, but I don't think there's anything anyone does for smoking right outside the door. That's what the smokers at my job do. And I usually go outside with them, just because it's better than being left alone inside. But I'm the only one in my family who doesn't smoke, so I'm used to going outside with the smokers for that reason.
Some businesses just moved their outdoor ash trays away from the door, though.

We have the 25 foot from all buildings and entranceways in Michigan; but no one enforces it.
