Elizabeth is pretty weird in general about TV. I remember in the first book, Kristy tells Stacey when she's babysitting for David Michael for the first time that they're not allowed to watch videos when their Mum's not there... umm why exactly? I think it was that they couldn't watch cable when Elizabeth wasn't home...I don;t think they had a VCR until they moved in with Ol' Moneybags Brewer. ;D

In my book, (the UK version), Kristy says they're not allowed to watch videos while Elizabeth isn't in... but then again that was back in the early 80s, when the UK had only 5 channels ;D

What about the age difference between all the Pike kids? OMG, I know! Mrs. Pike was such a sex-loving wh*re! And what was the deal with all the rich people in Stoneybrook? How exactly did they earn their millions? Oh and this is kinda off topic, but once I was at a gym waiting for my mom's boyfriend with her when I was about 13, and I was looking around the lobby and I remembered Kristy saying something about how the Brewer's Living room was bigger than their previous house, and I turned to my mom and said, "The Brewers livingroom is bigger than this." She just looked at me and said, "Who are the Brewers?" She was so out of touch with my BSC-ness.

^ The rich people were all lawyers. The area needed thousands ;D Love the story about your mom. ;D I do things like this now so my parents are trying to learn all about the BSC and even reading a few of the books

They're really inconsistent with the TV thing sometimes, though. There are plenty of times where they say they settled so and so charge in with a movie or found Sesame Street on TV or whatever. Remember in #2 when Stacey wanted to watch MTV with Charlotte, but Charlotte didn't have cable?

^ I can't believe Char was going to watch MTV. As for not having cable, maybe it is weird because they live pretty much downtown but we live just outside of town in a town that is fairly small but certainly not out in the boonies and still can't get cable or DSL. My grandma who lives right through a ravine and my great aunt and uncle who live across the road can get it, though. And some other people who live about 15 mi outside of town, really out in the country can get it. Some weird thing with the lines.

Maybe they're able to get cable but her parents chose not to get it for some reason.

I can't picture Charlotte watching MTV but I think it was much tamer back in 1986 than it is now.

In Stacey's Book, she talks about watching MTV when she was, like, five.

^I wonder how that was possible, if the series started in '85. Hooray for being 13 for 20 years!!

Well, MTV was launched in 1981, when Stacey (going from how old she was in 1986, which was 12) would have been 7. Of course not everyone had cable to watch it with back then, but I assume Stacey probably did since her parents weren't exactly hurting for cash. So yeah, she could have been watching MTV from childhood.
I just realized how sadly pathetic it is that I just sat there and worked all that out. ;D
