I don't write in my books at all, but I love it when I get one with even the kids name written in it. That's one of the best parts about used books, imo -- imagining who read it before you. I recently bought a used copy of Jane Eyre which was a gift to somebody else at some point. In the front cover is this long note about how this was the giver's favorite book and she hoped the receiver would like it and blah blah. Then on some random page in the middle, she had written "love ya babe!" I love finding stuff like that!

Heehee, this thread is completely amusing me. I don't usually write in my "fun" books (the books I read on my own time), but I don't think I could've survived university without writing in my books (both texts and novels). I filled out a couple of the notebook pages back in day, but nothing worth mentioning. And sadly, I've never come across any funny notebook entries from other people. It makes me laugh when I think about how it would look if I filled one out while re-reading them now. Something like: Probably not what Ann and the publishers had in mind, but oh well!

I think I wrote in the notebook pages maybe once. Other than that I never wanted to ruin my books either!

I used to fill out the notebook pages all the time lol. Except I stopped when I was 12 cos I decided I didnt like filling them out anymore. One book I borrowed from the library had the quiz filled out. One question was "Where did you read this book the most?" and they had answered "The toilet." Suddenly I wasnt so happy to be reading the book

^ Ew. That's gross! ;D Fluffycakes, loved what your entries would be today. I think that would be most of ours on here ;D I wrote in maybe one of my books ever in my life. Now I look at books that mom wrote my name in as a kid and get mad that there is writing in them. My dad is the same way. I never even would have considered highlighting/underlining in any of my textbooks, though didn't much care if they had writing in them already (probably because this made them cheaper a lot of times )

Just got a new copy of Mallory's Christmas Wish in from Amazon. To my delight, the notebook pages are filled out for once. I present to you a few select gems from the books previous owner: "If I could write a Baby-Sitters Club book it would be about MALLORY HAVING TROUBLE WITH BOOKS" "The last big holiday wish I made was PRESENTS" "If my family were on TV, they would have to call the show SHUT THE DOOR" And my favorite... "If there was a camera crew in my house for the holidays, the silliest thing they would see would be SUPPY ON THE TABLE" Wtf? Suppy? ? Oh, and... "My least favorite holiday is BIRTHDAY"

Whatever it was, I got a chuckle out of it. ;D I also had a good time wondering exactly what kind of trouble with books they were hoping Mallory would have?
