What books or scenes make you laugh the most? Some of my favorites that I can think of right away are MA and Too Many Babies, Snow White and Seven Zorbs subplot of Bad Baby-sitter, the buying stuff from catalogs subplot of Stacey’s Choice. I know there are lots more but I needed to think of a few since I’ve had one of those days where the book that fits it is “Karen’s Worst Day”…. And tomorrow is not looking much better…..

I always laugh at the sitters in "Kristy and the Baby Parade" the descriptions and embarrassment of riding around on an orange blob... Maybe it's because that's my response to an embarrassing situation -- laugh it off.

there are definitely times when i crack up during bsc books. Karen made me laugh with her "jones and vance" idea, as i mentioned in another thread. I find karen really funny now in ls (not so much in bsc). i think kristy + bart = ? is hilarious, actually.

I never remember how funny Ghost at Dawn's House is but I really was laughing this time when I read it. The baby-sitting chapters all made me laugh and so did the part of the main plot where Dawn and Jeff are freaking out about the passage and piling up the furniture and their mom and the "Trip Man" come home. ;D

^ Imagine getting a call from your kids saying it's an "emergency" and then coming home to find them piling up the furniture and screaming about a ghost. ;D And imagine what the "Trip Man" must have thought.

I'd be kind of upset with my Realtor if she sold me a house with an entrance that she didn't tell me about. I'd also be mad at my kid for not telling me. I know they are in the suburbs and all, but if I heard noises in the secret passageway, which I knew wasn't locked, i'd be a little freaked out too. I would not want to go in it in the dark, either. I'm glad trip-man was there to check things out.
But yeah, it's funny. Plus the way he was like "if it was a ghost, wouldn't it just float through?"

maybe the realtor didn't know about it. it seemed pretty well-hidden.

I just can't imagine them not knowing about an entrance to the house. A secret closet? That is something that can be hidden. But wouldn't a secret entrance show up during inspections?
I was going to make the argument that nicky pike found it pretty easy, but I guess kids do have a way of finding stuff that adults overlook.

it seemed like it looked like ordinary wainscotting, and then when you pressed on it it would swing open. kind of like batman's hidden entrance to batcave behind a swinging bookcase.

I think, too, Nicky found the barn-end entrance.

Yeah, Nicky found the one in the barn. He just went in there to get away from the triplets, because it was the only place within the perimeter that his Mom let him go, where he could go and be alone, and he happened to find the entrance.
I, too, found the description of Snow White and the Seven Zorbs to be hilarious! And there was another time when the BSC charges were doing a talent show or something? I'm not positive which book it was, but I'm relatively sure it was Mallory's. Anyway, Buddy was there with Pow, and whatnot? Ahh... good stuff ^_^

Oh, I know nicky found the barn entrance. But ... wouldn't someone have looked at teh condition of the barn, pre sale? cleaned it out, noticed a trap door? No? Okay.
As for the interior -- well, I guess it makes sense that it wouldn't be noticed. Although I would want to know about the extra space that wasn't being used, as the walls must be kind of think to hold a passageway. Creepy.
A few apartments ago, we had a secret closet that we think was used to hide prostitutes back when the house was a brothel. The only reason I found it was because I was staring at this wall for like an hour, trying to figure out why my closet was so small, if the wall ended so close to where I was... it just seemed "off" if that makes sense.
