Karen and Andrew had goldfish. maybe they just went into the same aquarium? I don't remember David Michael's fish present happening, but Karen and Andrew got their fish after Emily and Nannie had joined the household. Watson grumbled because it cost so much to go out and buy all the high end fish equipment that he thought they needed (or that the pet store person pushed on him, I don't remember that for sure either). David Michael's present was probably in an old fashioned cheap glass bowl. This book was the first and last time that the club made really good money for what they were doing (not counting free trips to the beach and/or cruises). It's probably no coincidence that it's the only time they didn't set their own rate.

^ i guess i didn't realize that they didn't get the aquarium until later. another inconsistency i guess. sort of off topic, but besides the start up cost of purchasing the aquarium and supplies, fish are super affordable to maintain. watson could afford any aquarium he wanted.
i always wondered why the club never charged again for all their events. even in mean janine they made a few dollars for every kid who visited, and even a couple dollars here and there adds up when there's some event every other week. they barely make money from actual babysitting.

Quick question/thought as I just started re-reading this book. I don't think any of the books prior to this one mention Patrick abandoning his family. The girls make it sound like a regular divorce. MA even says that one of 6 times she walked to school alone was when Kristy stayed home the day after the Thomases got divorced. That would make a lot more sense for Edie being concerned about sending Patrick any house sale money than what we were (later) told that he up and fled. I also agree with someone way up-thread (I never thought of it until going through all 18 pages) it really was odd (again assuming Patrick didn't flee) that money matters were not immediately settled as part of the divorce. Why allow that to linger for 6 years? I'd also think if Patrick truly did take off like the complete jerk he probably was, I could easily see Edie wanting to move right afterward. That would make a whole lot more sense than Sharon's move. I don't necessarily mean across country (for Edie) just even down the street. I DO think it was awesome that she didn't move (probably) in order to keep some sense of security for the kids. I'm just saying I might have understood if she had or at least thought about doing so.

I thought that too Zoar when I read that half the money was Patrick's! I thought, screw that he left and don't deserve anything. I'm not sure where in the series it came out that he abandoned them.

I was so shocked that I read something in here that I truly don't remember! When the kids were putting on their wedding, Kristie mentioned that her grandmother (Patrick's mom) sent her a bunch of funny dress up clothes a year ago. It would have been interesting to see that relationship. Also, it's clear she knew how to contact the kids and she probably knew how to contact Patrick so that could have been of some help. Wonder how it feels to have a son that just abandons his family?

^ I assume she's not thrilled about it. It's funny how there's things that we never heard about, like Kristy's interaction with Patrick's family (for example). I guess we die hard BSC fans want to know EVERYTHING about the sitters' lives. Who knows, maybe Patrick's issues are a result of his parents

^I would have loved reading about involvement with the kids from Patrick's family. Wasn't a brother named Ray mentioned in Kristy's book or was it Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise? Lol, odd grouping but for some reason I remember it being in one of those two books. I wonder if when Patrick up and left (which I always felt is what he did. One morning, he decided that was the day to flee) he cut off contact with any other family he may have had at the same time. IIRC, he just left a note for his boss indicating he was quitting, eh didn't even have the decency to do that in person. I've said this many times but it has always angered me that eventually Patrick's "leaving" really did become a standard divorce. I'm not in anyway suggesting that is "easy or easier" than the other, just that the two are totally separate (IMO) things and should have been written as such.

I don't remember any talk of Patrick's having siblings, although there WAS a mention early in the series about Kristy's family getting a trunk of dress up clothes or something from their grandmother. Didn't sound like it was Nannie, either.

^Oldhickory pointed that out to me the other day in a pm. I think Wiggirl or Wiggir, worked on the Winnie the Pooh ride at DW. My first thought was wondering if she chose the screen name because "Wiggir" is sort of like "Tigger." Well it's more like Tigger than MA's gray striped cat is like orange striped Tigger!

Our grey striped cat just had grey striped kittens and my first thought was to name one of them Tigger, haha No wonder Mary Anne wanted one with that coloring, they are so cute.

All of you know my feline feelings already. I certainly wish your new kitties the very best, BooBoo. I do agree it would be cute to name a pet after a character that means something to you. Sort of like my ever hopeful idea of naming a future Collie named Louie.

Hahah what's even funnier is that I didn't realize any different with my name and everyone in here calling me wiggirl! You all must have thought I wore a bunch of wigs!!! Heh!
Funnily enough, wiggir13 is just my sign on for everything as a mix of my last name, first initial and then the day I was born. You can all keep calling me wiggirl though! It's easier than wiggir1

^That is very funny. The absolute truth is before I knew what exactly you did at DW, I had the thought that maybe you did wear wigs (character costumes) of some sort! Wiggirl is easier and (to me) sounds better than Wiggir
