Eh... I was never too impressed with this one, was just kinda boring. And what's with all Sharon's dates? Two guys from work, two guys she met at a party and of course, the Trip Man, who was the son of a friend of her parents. Heaven forbid you spend time with your kids that you just moved clear across the country... ah well, I'm sure this rant has been done before!
The triplets were such little BASTARDS in this book. I felt sorry for poor Nicky.

I liked this one because I enjoy seeing MA get scared. Hee hee. I felt sorry for Nicky too. He seemed like such a sweet kid.

I thought Nicky was really smart for finding the secret passage. The ghost plot really scared me when I first read this one.

Aw, this was where Nicky was hiding in the passage right? Poor Nicky!! I have always felt sorry for him. The triplets were such jerks to the poor kid. I have never cared for the ghost plots and whatnot, but the Nicky thing was cute, esp when Dawn said he could continue hanging out there when he needed to get away.

Of course, she might not like the idea of him there when he gets older. But I guess the house burned down anyway, right? So the passage is gone?

Gosh, the babysitters and their ghost stories. It was sweet that Dawn told Nicky he could hang out in there when he wanted to, but how did he find the secret passage in the first place? I haven't read this book in ages.

Half the passage would still exist though, beasue the other end was in the barn, where they exentually made their new house. I didn't understand how the secret passage really was meant to fit in the house. And inbetween Dawn & her mum's rooms, no less. Wouldn;t you wonder where all the extra space had gone?

And Dawn didn't live there anymore anyway, although I guess she couldn't really predict that ahead of time. Unless Dawn and her mum's bedrooms were in the basement, I really don't see how the secret passage was possible, unless it opened from the floor. Ugh, maybe I'm just not thinking clearly on this one.

I never understood where the secret passage came from either! It was a door in a wall between Dawn's and her mum's rooms, right? Maybe it's like The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe... How can a wall that's just flat, separating two rooms, suddenly open up, *not* to reveal the room on the other side, but rather a secret passage? Wouldn't that be visible from outside the house? Why didn't the passage come from a trapdoor??

Oh no. I've never considered the logistics of the secret passage, but now you guys are making my head hurt!!

Haha, I thought it was kinda messed up too. I think they said there was some space between the rooms, but it must have been pretty narrow. What I couldn't understand was how it worked downstairs, since Dawn's room is upstairs. That means the secret passage has to go down two flights, which had to make it pretty long, unless the stairs were as steep as they were narrow. So just the thought of the stairs is kinda scary. That house must have been either very well or very badly planned out. Was it really necessary for Nicky to go in the passage? I mean, isn't the barn private enough? The passage is all dark and dirty. I guess that makes it "cool" but I wouldn't want to eat down there.

What confused me was how did Dawn get in and out of the passage so fast in Dawn's Wicked Stepsister when doing all of that stuff to scare MA.

Ugh, I wasn't sure if Dawn's room was upstairs OR downstairs. Considering it was upstairs, I now feel like hitzpink - the logistics of the passage are making my head hurt. Bloody Ann. Why couldn't she make Dawn's bedroom downstairs and the opening of the passage a trapdoor, like jen suggested! As a kid, I spent so much time pondering how the secret passage was possible, it just never made sense to me. Also, I'm sure an eight yr old boy wouldn't mind eating in the dirty, dark passage. Those things don't tend to worry kids too much.

Oh my, I never even thought about Dawn's bedroom being upstairs! macca, I'm pretty sure Dawn's room is upstairs... I remember one book where Jeff wakes Dawn up and tells her to go downstairs for breakfast. Or maybe I just imagined that...

When they're tapping on the walls in Dawn's bedroom, the wall between her and her mom's room is hollow - and when the wall swings open (and it swings inward) there's a narrow space with a staircase. I always figured there was a very small space separating the two rooms, and the passage veered off to the side. Thinking about how steep those stairs would have been and how far they went considering Dawn's bedroom was on the second floor does sound pretty scary. Since the passage runs between the walls of the house she probably made some noise while darting in and out while playing pranks on Mary Anne, but MA probably didn't hear as she was freaking out and trying to reach Logan on the phone.
