Ok, how's this for another "Wtf?": On the cover of this book, you see Dawn and Jeff looking into a secret passage/staircase thing. But... the stairs are leading upwards away from her room. What the?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Before I read the book, I was thinking they were going to the attic. Afterwards, I was like, huh? More proof that the illustrator doesn't read the books.

Oh. Maybe they *are* going up into the attic... It seems strange that they'd make such a big boo boo, when in other books they try to make the outfits exactly like they're described in the books.

^ oh yeah, like Dawn's um, cornsilk hair she can sit on? Those covers were usually TOTALLY inaccurate! But I wondered about this particular cover as well. Doesn't it mention something about them having to go upstairs to get into Dawn's room from the passage? Maybe that's where they're supposed to be.

Oh, yeah, forgot about that... yeah, I think they're going up to the attic. Stupid when the whole freakin' book is about a secret passage.

And how much did this property cost? I mean it had a barn and all. I mean, how can Sharon afford it? I don't know. I used to live in Montana and my friend's house in the country cost 100,000 dollars (a barn and around 15 acres). My house cost around 18,000 in comparison.

Didn't they say that it was the only property they could afford? It was cheap because it was old. Or maybe I'm getting their house mixed up with Stacey's house...

Maybe. But I don't remember. I think they also said that the house had a lot of rooms but were small because it was built a long time ago and people were shorter back then? Does that make any sense? When was that house built? I mean, people couldn't have gotten THAT much taller or bigger over like what 100 - 200 years?

The house was built in the 1700s, wasn't it? And people *could* have got taller in those 200 years, but maybe it's also the way that houses were built back then. Maybe they couldn't be bothered climbing ladders higher to make the houses taller *shrugs*

I think the house was cheaper because there hadn't been any people living in it for a few years.

where i'm from (about an hour ferry ride away from Conneticut), if you buy a "historical" house, which i think is basically any house over 100 years old, you can't make any type of change to it, which makes the house cheaper in cost compared to newer homes. that may be why Sharon bought the house??

^^^Just a thought- but this book was before Mary Anne met Logan (unless you're talking about another book after she meets him in which she freaks her out w/ the secret passage= havent' read that book in ages)

Actually, I think the difference has been quite substantial. Not too long ago, being six feet tall was like WHOA!!! Now it's considered only slightly above average for males.
