^Oh, I totally agree that there are better ways to take care of pets! I also never even thought of the fact that they were left overnight....that WOULD be too long for most animals.

^Neither did I. The whole arrangement was just stale.

I must have read this once before but I didn't really remember it.

I just re-read and was wondering if Jackie ever got his hamster? I don't think it was ever mentioned again. :/ I thought Kristy's conversation with both Jackie and his mom was very sweet and nice. I wish it had played out.

Eek. So many things could go wrong with Jackie and a hamster.

The idea of Jackie with a smaller, more vulnerable pet is somewhat scary. I think he'd do better with a sturdier, larger pet- friend. On the other hand, something very small just might help him gain confidence as he cares for it.

I don't remember Elizabeth getting another mention.
Didn't the Rodowskys already have Bo in this book? I seem to remember Jackie pointing out that he took good care of Bo, so why shouldn't he take care of the class rabbit? I agree that a larger, sturdier pet would be better for Jackie, not a hamster. He'd probably sit on it accidentally or lose it in the house.

^Yes this was the book where Jackie ran against other classmates to take care of their rabbit Snowball. He sadly lost to Adrienne Garvey. Bo was in it.

^Depending on the size of their house and whether the Mancusis provided 24/7 (or as needed) care, maybe. Perhaps they took turns spending time with the animals each day? It does seem like that'd take up at least a couple if not more hours every day and that probably one of them would always have to be home. Yikes.

^ Not sure about the legal issues. Some of their pets were small and all lived in single cages or tanks (fish, hamsters, etc), which would mean less care than if all their pets were dogs, cats, birds, or bigger pets that needed more space and more individual care. I never thought about zoning laws until now, though....
