hmm I realize now I don't think I've ever read this one. I think I was confusing it w/ Dawns Big Move. Darn I really gotta get this, it sounds good

^ I always get both of those confused. I don't remember a thing about this one. It seemed pretty unremarkable. What was the subplot?

I mix the two up as well. Not surprising, since the plots are basically the same, except Dawn moves permanently in one and temporarily in the other. I think Mary Anne also gets madder in one than the other.

^ I'm pretty sure MA gets madder in this one because I just read Dawn's Big Move and don't remember a big fight. I might be wrong, though, as it made so little of an impression that I actually don't remember ;D

In Dawn's Big Move, Mary Anne knew it was only 6 months (or so she thought ) and she knew that Dawn missed her brother and Dad very much so she was happy for her. I think in Farewell Dawn, she became angry as she felt she had been deceived by Dawn, who promised she would come back for good and even worse she had to find out from someone else!

^ That's what it was, I think, too. Didn't Dawn tell Kristy first in this one? That had to have been really hurtful for MA. She probably also felt abandoned. I can see how Sharon might feel like that, too. I know it's been pointed out that Dawn was just chosing her old life but still, that's saying she liked that one better (that's how I'd see it, at least, so I can see how MA might, too) What was the subplot in this one?

One of the Hobart boys breaks his leg, so the BSC decides to put on Christmas in summer for him.

^^Christmas in July sounded like fun. Nice way to break up the summer.
I think MA was upset at Dawn because they didn't talk about how Dawn was feeling--Dawn made the decision on her own. Then Dawn told everyone else about her big move before even telling MA. I'd be upset too if I heard this type of news from my sister/best friend.

Actually I would be upset too, if I found out my sister/best friend was leaving from somebody else.

^ I would be, too. I would be really hurt but would probably react with anger, which is kind of what I remember MA doing. As for the subplot, I remember liking that one now but always get it confused, I think, with the hospital buddy subplot of Kristy's Worst Idea (I think that's the one). Does another charge break his leg in another book or is there another similar subplot other than the hospital buddies? There seem to be a few I keep confusing.

Claudia's the only one I can think of who broke her leg in the series other than James...

Just reread and I don't care that much for this one. There just doesn't seem to be a lot to it, or maybe just not a lot I can relate to. The thing I really didn't like, though, is that I felt a real lack of closure at the end. I think I might prefer the fantasy element of the relationships that are automatically put back to better than before after a fight instead of more realistic outcomes of the MA/Dawn fight like in this one. I sensed some wounds that would maybe never heal and feel like they never totally made up but just pushed things under the rug. I guess I need to read books after this one and pay attention to where they fall in the series to see if this strain of the MA/Dawn relationship is developed more. I really liked Jessi's letter to Dawn, though. I always enjoy how Jessi and Mal seem to look up to the older girls and sometimes tell them so. This seems very realistic and I can relate since I often did that type of thing. The subplot was pretty cute as it got me in the Christmas mood. ;D

I think in Farewell Dawn, she became angry as she felt she had been deceived by Dawn, who promised she would come back for good and even worse she had to find out from someone else! Judging by MA's reaction, I can understand why Dawn was reluctant to tell her and told Kristy first. For someone so sweet and sensitive, MA certainly knows how to fly off the handle. I think she'd have been just as furious if Dawn had told her first, although I guess the fact that she found out from everyone else makes her fury more understandable to the reader ;D I didn't have an issue with Dawn's move, but I wish she'd just make up her mind and stick to it for once

I never read this one before because I just never got around to it. I know it's in my library for sure so I'll check it out when I go back. I can't believe MA smashes a mug, so cool. I think it'll be a good read.
