^ I totally missed the mug and was looking for it. I must have read it way too fast. ;D It just wasn't keeping my interest, though. Agree, macca, about wishing that Dawn would make up her mind but I think she feels very conflicted and is trying to please everyone. It has to be hard for her and everyone involved. Glad I don't have that situation. ;D

^ Agree. At first, she had several good books. Then it seemed like they ran out of plots or something for her which maybe is why they permenantly sent her back to CA in this one (though she does come back again I think ;D)

she comes back to visit but once she gets her own series she doesn't have any more bsc books. The last dawn book is 98, dawn and too many sitters.

^ That's what I was thinking. When was her last mystery published? I know she was just visiting then, too.

You know, when I was a kid I HATED Dawn, so I didn't care that she went back to CA. But now that I'm rereading the series again, I'm finding that I actually like her and miss her in the books where she's back in CA.

^ It's funny but I'm the opposite. I used to think Dawn was one of my favorites but I think that was mostly based on the earlier books. Now that I've read a lot of the later ones, I think she's my least favorite. I especially don't like her in this book and others around this time.

I loved Dawn as a kid and even now, I still enjoy reading about her in the earlier books. I went off her as the series progressed.

I always liked Dawn, although I liked Dawn better in the earlier books when she seemed not as crazy. I was kind of sad when she moved back to California when I was younger but I am glad she finally made a decision!

^ I was a bit disappointed that she left, even though she didn't appear until book four, she always seemed like an original member to me.

Dawn was cool in the beginning, especially in Dawn and the Impossible Three and Dawn and the Big Sleepover. I cracked up every time she talked about her mom being a scatterbrain. After those two I didn't much care for her.

I didn't even read this book and it affected me more than any other book in the series. Seriously, Dawn was my absolute favorite character.
And the moment I saw this title and the summary "This time it's for good", I practically had a heart attack. Then I spent the next few years writing about girls who moved from their home, came to a town and had a great life and them betrayed their friends and went back to their old town. Dawn had betrayed me and I went through many mixed emotions.
I sometimes compare Dawn leaving the club to Misty leaving the group in Pokemon. However, the tenth season of Pokemon is great and there are new great characters. Cant say the same for the BSC :/

I didn't even read this book and it affected me more than any other book in the series. Seriously, Dawn was my absolute favorite character. And the moment I saw this title and the summary "This time it's for good", I practically had a heart attack. Me too. I remember perfectly when I read the preview for it in Stacey & the Bad Girls. I swear my heart stopped, and I obsessed about it for the rest of the day. Very traumatizing. Slighty OT, but I wish they'd planned the timing a bit better. Stacey just comes back to the club after quitting/being fired, and in the very next book, Dawn moves away. In the 20 books or so prior to Farewell, Dawn, it always seems like someone's missing - Dawn goes to California for six months, Mal gets mono and temporarily drops out of the club, Stacey quits, Dawn moves away again. I love reading the books with the full, original 7 members in the club, and from about Dawn's Big Move onward, we don't see them together all that much. Anyway. I finally read this one for the first time last week. Since I'm a total Mary Anne, I cried my eyes out, especially when reading the letter Jessi wrote to her. As we all know I enjoy the BSC drama, so I loved MA smashing the mug. Even so, I wanted to smack her for being so immature and selfish. I can understand why she's hurt, but get a grip! If I were her I'd want to spend my last 2 weeks with my best friend/step-sister having fun and spending as much time together as possible - not ignoring her and smashing dishes. Still, that incident definitely rivals the "I wish you would get out of my life...forever!" line for the best of MA's dramatics! The part when Dawn tells her mom she wants to move back was really touching. Even though I'm not her biggest fan, I really felt for Sharon at that moment. It was a sad and well-written scene.

^ Jessi's letter was my favorite part, too. Also agree about feeling for Sharon (but I do really like her) I think she's really understanding and a great mom. ;D I never thought about one of the girls always being missing but you're right.
