^ Hee hee. I don't see Mr. Hobart being the type to do that, though. Patrick Thomas totally would, if he were around. Or, he'd just hang up!

The one thing I remember about this book was Kristy going through withdrawal with no BSC and thinking of starting up a babysitting help hotline. That's almost as lame of an idea as the Fall into Fall Festival! Seriously Kristy...tying apples to tree branches? It's always refreshing to see the BSC fail at something because it humbles and humanizes them lol.

I thought it was funny that Claudia made him help her! I enjoyed this book, but it was so, so bad. The melodramatics, everything was so pathetic and amusing at the same time. Kristy was an idiot in this book.

I wish we had gotten to read Claudia's conversation with Mr. Hobart. Kristy may be my favorite Sitter but this one of my least favorite of her (and of all the) books. It would have been better if the BSC had broken up for a while and the girls drifted apart. Maybe they'd come to admit that the BSC was what banded them together but also that they really did care about one another outside of it. Or even as others have said the "It's a Wonderful Life" take but with more of the families involved. Another idea could have been making this a Super Special. The BSC takes the children on some sort of outing and one of the kids gets hurt or lost not that I want that to happen just that it might have been a better read in comparison to "maple sugaring!"

Claudiascandystash said this many years ago:
^ Thank you for the laugh I needed it right now.
I finished and actually, begrudgingly found a few moments to like. the one on page 47. So wackily pathetic it was momentarily funny.
Stacey was the only real holdout for rebanding the BSC. She seemed to only be sorry about the loss of money from baby-sitting jobs. I do (would like to) think she also missed the club part, a little anyway. I think she could have stepped up and asked to be made an alternate officer for awhile.
Claudia, really shouldn't have been allowed to rejoin as a full member. At one point both her dad and Janine were tutoring her so surely her parents had to be somewhat aware of her impending school doom. Too bad there was no such scene or discussion. Speaking of the Kishis what made me smile was when Kristy said something about the "junk food police" aka C's parents catching her eating a ring ding. They didn't (of course) Kristy just used that as a way of comparison to how shocked she was to find Claudia in hw despair.

I liked this one b/c it seemed realistic to me too. I feel as though these issues have been occurring all along, but we just haven't read about them. I assumed that Kristy was being normal and just understanding of people not being able to make a meeting here and there. It really makes no sense to me why everyone has to be at the meeting if MA has their schedule in the book.
It was pretty interesting to me to see how everyone dealt with the disbanding and I really found it hilarious that parents didn't know what to do without the BSC!
I sort of blame Abby for this whole thing with her pitches in the last book to be president and all I feel like it made the girls think differently about it.

^I don't get why everyone has to be at the meeting either. I think there should be one day out of the three, that is more mandatory than the others. That way problems can still be discussed as a group and no one is left out of the loop. The other 2 days, if you have a confliction, do your best to tell Kristy or another member, give MA your schedule and that's it. The girls talked to each other all the time anyway, so someone could easily "fill in" whoever had to miss. I'm fine with blaming Abby! Can we find a way to also "blame" Dawn? Seriously, I agree this was in the works for a while, probably right around "Stacey vs the BSC." If that book had been better written/handled better it could have led to a discussion on how to make the BSC work better for its members.

Well Dawn's last book was right before this and I feel that she may have motivated Abby to make sure that MA would never be happy while she was gone. I think this is a good scenario!

^Lol, you really do detest Dawn huh? From reading the thread of "MA and the Little Princess" I just might, too. I'm not sure she cared enough to take that action but maybe. I have a hunch while Dawn was in Stoneybrook she tried to do all she could to pacify MA but once back to CA, forget it. MA probably was well aware of that and acted accordingly.

Agreed. I just bought the CA diaries off of ebay and have never read them. I am interested to see if she even mentions MA. I didn't realize my dislike of Dawn and MA so much until this reread. I used to really like MA but now she just makes me so angry!

^I don't think MA is mentioned in the CD's though I've never read them because of how much I "love" Dawn. I also used to like Mary Anne. Then I came to these boards, did some re-reads, and realized she was basically the opposite of the character she's cracked up to be. Dawn, I've always had issues with, so that's nothing new. The two of them, plus Abby are my least favorite three sitters, the order can sometimes just vary.

^ Mary Anne was rarely mentioned in Dawn's journal. I remember in Dawn Diary # 1, she wrote some thing like she doesn't miss Mary Anne and the BSC as much as she thought she would.

No Mary Anne is never mentioned in the CDs even in the one where Dawn is going to conneticut in book 7 (i think, will double check when im more awake). I actually always liked Dawn not sure why but she never irritated me. even when she was coast hopping and agonizing over where she wanted to be.
Kristy was over the top in this one expecting them to give up there labour day parties to have a meeting, I was with Jessis parents - who wouldnt let her go. Noone wanted to be there Kristy should have taken the hint

^Thanks Anzuhana and Psychoseal. When did Dawn Diary 1 take place? I mean was it after her "6 month" or "forever" return to CA? That would be rude not to mention her in a CT book. Did Dawn actually go or just write about her impending trip?
ITA, Psychoseal, and Jessi's parents. I wouldn't have expected any client to call anyway.
