Yeah, I would be jealous of the Delaney's too. I didn't know that Mallory's dad was out of work for month before he went and found another job! I haven't read this in forever, but I remember seeing the cover of Mallory looking like a twenty year old baby-sitter.

I always want Coke and Oreos when I read about the Delaneys...not necessarily together.

I've had Coke and Oreos together. I don't, like, dip the Oreos in the Coke or anything, although that doesn't sound completely awful to me...

Coke and Oreos are awesome together or apart, and I wish I had some now...

OK, I thought of this book today while watching some news coverage of Michael Jackson's memorial service. It was when they started singing "We Are The World." I thought to myself, "Hey, Jordan Pike started singing that at the dinner table and Mr. Pike yelled at him!" Then I thought, "Can I do ANYTHING without somehow connecting it to the BSC?" I guess not.

Did Claire get stranded at school was she simply picked up by Myriah's mom? I just re-read this one and only found the latter..though maybe from reading it on here and other discussions...it seems like she really was forgotton at school? Am I making that up? Even though she is fictional I hope she was not stranded at school.

^ In this day and age, they'd never just let a random parent pick up someone else's kid without a whole bunch of documentation.

I remember the We Are The World reference, but I relate everything to michael AND BSC, as I've been a diehard mj fan for years.

Now that I think about it, coke and oreos don't sound like a bad combination at all!
Why did Vanessa have to ashamed of doing other girls hair? I thought it was kind of cute, and realistic for a girl that age to do.
Mallory so told those girls off, I think that was the best part of the whole book, and then those girls had the nerve to call her and try to invite themselves to her party! As Stephanie from Full House would say..."How Rude!"

I find it strange that every Pike kid was shunned. I could understand it with Mallory and the triplets but with Claire, I just don't get it. Like everyone else posted, I wish the distinction between being fired and being laid-off was made. I did like how Jessi told Mal that if Mal didn't defend herself, then she would.
