Unfortunately, I know some girls who were like that girl on the talk show. It is so sad. I hate the clothes that people dress their little girls in today. In my opinion, they're making them grow up too fast. I won't get started on this though.

My school library and the local public libraries did not have this book in circulation. I always figured it was because "boy-crazy" sounded racy, but looking back on it...these libraries had a ton of Judy Blume, including the infamous Forever, so what gives? I remember hearing somewhere that it was also unusually popular, so the bookstores never had it in stock, either. Did anyone else have a tough time finding this one when you were younger?

^ I never had that difficulty, but I do know it was a more popular book.
Maybe the whole "racy" issue was the reasoning behind it. After all, the target BSC audience is younger than the target audience for Forever and other somewhat-racy books for that age group (Are you there, God etc) are at least dealing with puberty and adolescent issues in a more serious manner. Parents who are giving their kids some light fluff to read probably want the material to be more wholesome. Although Boy-Crazy Stacey wasn't remotely sleazy IIRC. Although the Pikes were very irresponsible allowing 13 yr old girls to wander around at night completely unsupervised with strange boys who were never even introduced to the adults. I can't imagine Richard Spier being particularly impressed with that arrangement.

Yeah this comment is REALLY late, but...is anyone else creeped out by the fact that on the cover for this book Stacey looks around the right age and Scott appears to be somewhere in the vicinity of 28. Perhaps 30. That is NOT a 17 year old boy.

^ I used to think that 18 year old guys looked like that in real life when I read this book when I was a kid. Then I got to be 18 and I was very disappointed. This seems to be one of the most popular BSC books of all time; I loved it, too! It's actually my favorite Stacey book. I loved the parts with them going out on the town together; I wish I'd had a vacation like this when I was younger! I never really thought about it being odd that the Pikes just let the girls go off with strange guys for the evening until this board, though. Maybe it's because we as readers had "met" them already ourselves, so we already had this idea that they were nice guys. I can totally picture it going another way and having them be total sleazes that prey on vacationing girls.

I'm definitely taking this one on vacation. Like Starrynight, it is one of my favorites, especially the part where they go into town. Actually, I like the whole thing I haven't looked at the cover for a while but will have to check it out when I throw it in my big bag of books to take (can't narrow down the choices enough ) When I was a kid, I remember putting off reading this one for a long time because of the title - I didn't like books that had any kind of boy-girl relationship during the time I first started reading BSC books. That's why I always liked Kristy (I was so mad when it said anything about her liking Bart) and Dawn best at that age and couldn't stand Stacey. Funny but now Stacey is one of my favorites. After I read this one, though, I was glad I did (and for some reason, I didn't mind Stacey having a boyfriend the way I minded it with Kristy. I don't know, maybe it seems like it went less against her "principles")

Stacey looks really cute on this cover, but as a kid I was always so confused about Scott. He definitely looks like he could be in his 30s, and I always thought to myself "is that really what high school boys look like?!" He looks SO creepy.

Not to mention that Scott is not looking at Stacey with his google eyes...it's definitely the Pike Spawn.

This was one of my favorite books as a kid, and still is. This book introduced Sea city to me and ever since I loved the Sea city books. It always makes me want to go on vacation.
Scott was creepy. I agree he looked about 30 on the cover and he somewhat reminded me of a baywatch lifeguard for some reason.

^ I like the Sea City books, too, mssstock. I really don't like Stacey, but this is one of my favorites. I actually like it more than Sea City, Here We Come!.

I do too a little bit, maybe because Sea city was something new in this book, it was just being introduced.

Also introduced to Sea City by this book and have loved it ever since. It also made me (don't quite know why though) like Stacey better. It's strange I disliked her so much but liked her in this book. But now she is actually one of my favorite sitters.

I didn't mind Stacey in this book because she was acting her age. She acted more her age then she did in later books in my opinion.
