Those dogs are adorable! This book was one of the first BSC books I ever read. It still makes me tear up to this day.

I felt so sad for David Michael about Louie. Poor kid's father walks out on him and the dog he's had since he was a baby dies.

^At least he doesn't have to live in a closet anymore, though.

No wonder DM can be a whiner. I had forgotten he lived in a closet, sotypical Thanks for the good laugh - needed it as I am a bit stressed right now (and really needing to get off here!) with trying to pack my "Claudia boxcar" and get it to zip. In my case, though, it's books that are filling up the boxcar.

^At least he doesn't have to live in a closet anymore, though. Very true. Although I'm sure he could have his pick of any wonderful closet at Watson's mansion.

LOL, that's true. It always cracks me up when the BSCers are like "poor David Michael was practically living in a closet!" I mean seriously how freaking small was his room?! And if it was THAT small, why didn't they have Sam/Charlie share and let poor DM out of his closet?

Sam and Charlie didn't share already? I guess I always just assumed the did. If they didn't, the house couldn't have been that small.

I always thought they shared already as well! I wonder if I read something that implied that.

Oh for some reason I thought they each had their own rooms. Interesting. Poor DM there really was no spot for him!

Just reread for the first time in a long time. Not one of my favorites but it was okay. The plot with Louie was really sad, even for me and I hate dogs. I was glad that they made the decision to put him down and didn't give him "a few extra days." (I probably would have made the decision a little sooner as he seemed to be really suffering for quite some time). I can relate to this as I have made this difficult choice with a few of my ponies, one of whom I had had since I was a baby. He was like 38+, though, and could no longer eat. I thought it was cruel to let him linger and suffer. And I'm currently getting myself "prepared" because my old show pony turned 30 this year (really old for a horse) and is not doing so well or seeing so well anymore. I know I won't let her suffer. So, I really could relate to and sympathize with the Thomases in this one. As for the "snobs", the Delaney kids were actually so snobby they were funny. Stacey's "Taming of the Snobs" (the deranged Mary Poppins) made me laugh. After reading this one, though, I don't see Shannon as such a nice person. I thought she acted like an immature jerk and she kind of apologized but not really. I was actually surprised they invited her to be in the club. I was a Shannon fan but with every book I've read about her lately, I've formed a more negative view. This one was sad but had enough funny parts to keep it light and not as traumatic as some of the other ones - MA and the Memory Garden being one because I can't stand that subplot.
