^ ;D Did it mention if he had cancer or something like that or did it say he was old? I was thinking he was just old but now that doesn't sound right.

I remember Kristy being afraid he had cancer, but the vet just said he was getting old and had arthritis.

I didn't get why Louie was supposedly so old and feeble. My friend had her dog from the time she was 5 until she was 20 and that dog was seriously old. But 7 years? I suspect foul play....Darn that Baby Sitter's Agency! LOL!

^ I thought he was like 14 but I guess we figured out that he had to be 7 because he was a puppy when DM was a baby. Maybe that was another inconsistency, though, and he was really supposed to be 14 in this book. Or maybe he aged more rapidly than other characters. That tends to happen on Soap Operas so why not with a dog in the BSC? ;D

Louie's age is going to bother me now! That is really young for a dog to die unless they are really sick.

I never thought about it! Thats gonna bug me too! I always cry for Louie, and DM Although I generally liked Shannon, she was so snobby in this book. And isn't Tiffany 11 in this one?

It's mentioned that louie came around when Kristy was born or so in the book...but then again in Kristy's book he was a puppy when DM was born. (remember thsi cause there was a picture saying the two new thomas's with dm...) Reread this book last night ...had me crying...reminded me of when our dog Belle was poisoned with Anti Freeze...and also when our cat Skittle Boots died of cancer. That majorly sucked. Anyway, there was a "wtf" moment for me in the book. Jamie Newton just happens to show up at the Perkins' house ...by himself... and then leaves...by himself. HE'S FOUR!!!!!! I know the newton's and perkin's' live nearby each other, but they dont live on the same street, and i assume from teh maps i've seen that the hosues aren't within sight of each other... why is he wandering around by himself? It's as dangerous as leaving him outside without a coat and mittens and a hat like the BSC found him in #3

I don't remember reading that Louie was a puppy when Kristy was a baby...it was always David Michael. I didn't think much about the age thing when I was younger, but now that I'm older and a MAJOR dog person, it DOES bother me. 7 is WAY too young for a Collie that's been well taken care of to have so many age-related problems. If Louie had been a Great Dane or one of the other giant breeds, that would have been more believable.

^ I also remember that Louie and DM were the same age. Like I say, maybe he "aged" more rapidly than normal ;D I guess this is one more thing I chose to overlook in the BSC books. I missed the part with Jamie, blossom. Was one of the girls sitting for him or for the Perkins?

^ Thanks. I'll have to reread and look for that part, even though this book is one of my least favorites. Shannon is such a snob in this one, I think. I just don't think her giving Kristy the dog makes up for that.

Kristy is just as bad as Shannon though! She takes one look at her and judges her, just like Shannon does to Kristy. At least Shannon had a SOMEWHAT (although weak) excuse - she didn't want Kristy taking over her sitting jobs.

^ agree. When i was rereading it, Kristy egged them on too. .. at least at the bus stop. The things Shannon did while Kristy was sitting was a bit much though, but I did have to laugh at the diaper delivery thing, even though that's not likely I still found it funny.
