Oh crap. Do you think cookies would check back? I don't know if he/she would know about it, otherwise.

Ignoring all the e-book talk above me... Finished this this morning and have to comment on a few silly things that didn't involve Kristy and Bart going at it. In the chapter 2 (which is really the chapter 3 in this one) Mal's mom called to set up an appointment and asked Mal to borrow the Kishi's plunger and bring it home with her. Mal is of course horrified at the thought of walking home carrying a plunger. Ignoring the obvious questions like why a family with 8 kids wouldn't own their own plunger, and if they really didn't, why Ms. Pike wouldn't just walk across her back yard and ask to borrow the McGills instead of humiliating her daughter. Was Mallory born with a Kick Me sign on her back? When did Kristy get a phone in her bedroom? This is Claudia's notebook entry from her one job in this book: I don't know why, but Claudia just managed to describe herself and her relationship with the BSC exactly as I would.

Claudia is more perceptive than anyone gives her credit for.
I thought that the plunger thing was weird too. With eight kids they must give their septic system a workout.

Maybe whatever they did to the septic system last time completely destroyed their plunger.
I don't even want to think about that.

It's sad when Kristy and Bart ends there relationship. They were always great together and seemed to have so much fun.

I can't believe i Just found this thread Regarding the Plunger thing, I Kinda thought that was weird too. Maybe It's just me, but don't you think it's a little.... Strange.. to go borrowing plungers? Maybe it just me, but I would feel funny asking my Neighbors if i could borrow their plunger haha.

I thought that Mary Anne gave good advice to Kristy and I liked how Kristy first called Jessi, instead of first calling Mary Anne. It shows that they interact with other members of the BSC instead of just interacting with their best friends.
I thought that Kristy's punishment was a bit much. She should have been allowed to eat dinner with the family instead of having it brought to her.

I thought that Kristy's punishment was a ridiculously bad message to send to young readers. Get caught making out with your boyfriend on the couch at age 13? Banned to your room for the weekend. No discussion (that we saw anyway) of WHY Watson and Elizabeth were rightfully aghast and very concerned. I can actually see Kristy's pov that Bart was merely a guy she hung out with--a friend, buddy, who yeah sometimes would kiss her. I don't think until this evening (in the book) the two of them had ever gone at it or that K considered B her boyfriend. That said, yeah initially inviting Bart over, while not quite right, still disobeying the rules, was not so horrible.
If Watson had not interrupted, I have always wondered how far things would have gone. I do not like to think of teens, especially so young, having sex or other deeper physical intimacy, but the set-up in the scene sure fit that scenario.
In any case, a much better reaction would have been for Watson and Elizabeth to have an open, yet serious talk with Kristy about what had just happened. I also would have loved to have read about Watson's convo with Bart and/or Bart's parents. Yet this book ended Kristy and Bart. I always got the impression this was mainly in reaction to having been "caught" as opposed to truly not feeling ready for a boyfriend.

for me, it seemed like kristy was looking for an opportunity to break things off with bart and her being grounded was justification for hating him. that always bothered me. instead of allowing her to be mature and level with him right away, she just copped out.

^ Well, Kristy is 13 and she's not always going to act mature about things.
