and in my area most of the money allocated to the schools goes to... the athletic programs. 25 sports fields for one high school are like, totally necessary!!!111 That's definitely true where I live. If it didn't contain football it just didn't matter.

I did like how Uncle Joe was in this book. I enjoy reading about him and find him funny sometimes. At the same time, though, it makes me kind of sad to read about him and a bit uncomfortable since Alzheimer's is one of my biggest fears. For me, losing a mind would be the worst possible loss. My friend's grandpa just died after having Alzheimer's for years and hearing anything about it makes me think of him and how awful it was for the whole family.

So, I actually finished this book yesterday. It's really annoying to read a Mallory book and for pages and pages, she complains about how she looks. She makes it sound like she's a hobbit or something. From the cover art, she's really not bad looking at all, and besides, she's 11. She's not going to look like a maxim cover model at freakin' 11. I love how her emergency was needing a haircuit, and so her mom took her to get one and Mallory says it's not horrible looking or something. Mallory needs self-esteem for Christmas, not $10k.
Claire was really cute in this one. Thinking she was the star, and getting really excited.
I would have been upset if a camera crew was all over my house, and spilling coffee everywhere. I can't handle more than a few houseguests at a time, much less strangers with cameras, spilling coffee. I would have sucked it up for that money, though.
Kristy was so annoying in this one! I hate how she gets camera fever whenever anyone in the club has a shot on being on tv. Ooooh, publicity for the club! Kristy really annoys me for this reason.
Other than that........good book.

^ I loved Claire in this one, too. ;D Also agree about Kristy. She annoys me most when she's getting all bent out of shape trying to get publicity - like in Claudia Live from WSTO. I didn't notice Mal complaining a ton about her looks. I must have skimmed that part. ;D

Kristy was crazy.
You know what part I totally loved...when they're filming the triplets running down the stairs and on the second take tell them to yuk it up a bit more. Then they totally go overboard, whooping and hollering ;D

^ And the camera men probably liked that a lot more. ;D We've been at Disney when they're filming commercials and stuff (the Christmas parade that is actually filmed about 3 weeks before Christmas ;D) and the camera people are always telling you to do stupid things and act way more extreme than normal. That makes some of those videos ridiculous looking. ;D

Ha, nice point aln! I remember when my mom and sister were on TLC's Makeover Story and they interviewed me and my brother asking us what we wanted to see our family change to and when we gave our honest opinion which was, "Nothing" they did not use us in the show. They wanted the interviews that showed people saying things like, "Oh, I want D's hair to change to be short." or "I want C's clothing to look younger to show off her body." Way more extreme than what was really true. I already thought my mother and sister looked beautiful!

Wow your family was on a reality show? I've always wondered what it must be like!

I've always wondered what it would be like, too. As a kid, I wanted to be on tv (Kristy ;D) but thought it would probably really be awful - like Mal's experience. Was it, sarish?

Wow, that's so cool that your family was on a reality tv show! How was it?? Just finished reading this book and there are some points that I have to make, that you guys already said but I just want to elaborate - Kristy was really annoying in this book. Argh, all she cares about is publicity for the club! Is this normal for a 13 year old girl!? All she cares about is the BSC. I know it's your brainchild, or whatever, but still. - Claire was adorable. Loved the comments she made, and the things she was doing. - I also think that they should have stuck it out for just one more day, but I can also see why they wouldn't. It was Christmas, after all, and you want to have a good Christmas. - I hated how they missed the good stuff, and then got them to try to do it over, and it was really forced then. And I know even for reality tv shows and the like there's editing and cutting out and doing over and all that jazz, but whyyyy? I mean, it's supposed to be real! Not acting; that's what movies and soap operas and all other shows are for! - Claire says she wants to make gingerbread men, and Mal corrects her and says it's 'gingerbread people'. *Sigh*. This annoys me. I'm all for women's rights, but this is taking it a tad bit far, I think!

I love this one! It's also one of the last BSC books I read before I started getting into them again. I even hung the ornament that came with it on my tree that year hahahaha.
Agreeing with everyone else's sentiments...Kristy was a pain in the ASS. I loved Claudia laughing at her at the nursing home rummage sale, telling she sounded like a tv commercial and Kristy got all offended because I guess Claudia ruined her plan. What's the point of getting the BSC on tv if like a good portion of Stoneybrook uses them already? And I remember Mr. Henry saying the show reaches all of Southern CT...is Kristy dreaming of branching out? Will Mary Anne be sitting a family in Wallingford, while Claudia is sent to Bridgeport, and Jessi manages to stick some babysitting in before her ballet classes in Stamford? Charlie's gonna have his work cut out for him, driving everywhere lol.
I did love the part where Mr. Henry and the crew are packing up during the BSC party and Kristy flips out because she thinks she's losing her one shining moment to get the club on tv. She's so desperate she starts offering babysitting discounts to him when he sees he's going to see his kids then mentions they're both adults...whoops. Call me evil, but I like seeing her get put in her place like that lol. "All I wanted was some publicity!" The BSC are the darlings of Stoneybrook, Kristy. You don't need more publicity!
I also loved the Pikes calling out different ideas of what to spend the $10,000 on. Vanessa wants another VCR so she can tape off a tape, the triplets are arguing over whether to get a Porsche or Ferrari, Claire wants North Pole Village from the mall ;D

I skipped this one. I think I just don't like Mallory or something, because I keep picking up her books and then putting them away and going on to the next one.
Wouldn't the TV company have sued them for breach of contract?

Kristy flips out when there are too many jobs and the sitters can't take them all, so why does she keep insisting on getting more publicity for the club? They have enough dependable clients.

Kristy annoyed me in this one too with her trying to get more publicity. I just wanted to tell her to shut up.

Kristy flips out when there are too many jobs and the sitters can't take them all, so why does she keep insisting on getting more publicity for the club? They have enough dependable clients. Exactly! And in, what, 8 books later from this, the BSC splits up because everyone is having issues with time commitment, and they can't take jobs or make meetings? And about 24 books ago, they were having problems with having enough sitters to go around when Dawn was in CA and Mallory was sick? And Kristy keeps wanting to get more attention for the club and bring in more clients when they already have a monopoly on babysitting in Stoneybrook? She's nuts. And it's been awhile since I've read this one, but I vividly remember Mallory describing Kristy enthusiastically and intensely going on about "Well who's going to watch your show? Families! And what do families have, huh? Kids! This is GREAT publicity for us!" and was pretty much imposing on Mallory to let her family host the BSC party. So it was perfect karma for the whole plan to blow up in her face lol.
