^ Bwahahaha! That made me laugh. I, personally, didn't really mind either book.
On the flip side, though, maybe it would have been interesting for Kristy to have been president and then try to see her balance school presidency and BSC presidency. That could have possibly made for some really interesting books to come!

It would have been too much like that Degrassi book when Stephanie became class president...or that book Class President with that kid Julio

I have no care in the world for current Degrassi, I read a few of the books of the original series. They film it here and can't even credit Canada, not cool!

It's funny how kristy doesn't have time to be president but she has time later for softball an all that other festival planning!
Zoar you asked me a long time ago where in ma and too many babies do she and dawn make fun of kristy and I realized I never answered. It's the very first chapter and they are talking about being late and dawn rolls her eyes at kristy being mad and ma basically says oh yeah she knew how kristy could be. I guess it wasn't really all that bad but I found it particularly annoying just to my loathing of ma and dawn!

^Thank you, Wiggirl, I just found it. I agree it wasn't necessarily mean just not at all necessary. Lol, as you said, one more reason we both are not fans of either MA or Dawn. I never thought of being SMS President that way. I think that job would take up a whole lot less time than the Krushers and BSC special events. I think it was more a matter of priority than time. Oh well. I'm glad you are re-reading again with me, makes it more fun and lol some of the books a little more bear-able! Anyone else is always welcome to join in.

I was talking about the original Degrassi. I don't care for the new version, either. I've even been watching Degrassi Talks and The Kids of Degrassi Street!

^ Why do you think that Supprazz? My JHS school experiences were such that I never gave who ran what office a second thought just that I couldn't wait to move on. In HS, I don't even think we had a class president. Was anyone on here ever a class officer?

Well there is pressure to make a team do well too and look after the kids you are responsible for, and softball is a sport Kristy is passionate for too, though she would not be held accountable if her team lost or won.
With being class president if she messes up or makes mistakes, she has her team members and faculty to answer to, and on top of that the student body, who may have high expectations for what goes on in the school around extra curricular activities and so forth.
If she ever needed to back away from softball for a bit and had them all take a break for awhile, she knows most of the charges and their families and it's more extra curricular. Doing something like that for school would be more complicated.

Thanks for the clarification Supprazz, good points. I was thinking of being class president in terms of probably not having many duties, at least on a regular basis. ITA that if say Kristy was in charge of some sort of fundraiser or school project that could promote more pressure than the Krushers. It still would have been interesting to see her try for a little while, if nothing else, so that we could get more insight into the runnings of SMS.

Yes I could definitely see Kristy take part in something temporarily that's short term at school, and she'd do a fabulous job with her strong work ethic.

YES. Love it!
Lots of fun outfits in this one.
Kristy to Grace: "Why don't you go somewhere and get some more practice at being a loser?" Um, harsh. But the girl DID use one whole index card for a single line of her speech...and the line was "we work hard."

never a schoolwide class officer, but i was involved in the band council, eventually as vice president. even though the work itself was easy (my main responsibility as vp was to change the bulletin board outside the office), just showing up for meetings was a big time commitment. even if kristy had no duties at all and was just expected to have that extra time for meetings, it's not something she could have done without hurting the krushers or shunning her other responsibilites. i don't blame her for bowing out. it showed that she respected the office enough to allow someone else to run it properly.
