I'm pretty sure it's this book but the cafeteria scene where Mary Anne is eating mystery meatloaf and as she goes to cut into it, Kristy screams - which causes Mary Anne to scream. It made me laugh out loud and usually Kristy's food jokes don't have that much of an impression on me.

Oh yeah, and Kristy saying the broccoli looked like it had been attacked by Bunnicula, haha.

I just reread mainly the Jamie parts as I love (truly all of) Karen's Unicorn but how Karen teaches Andrew to ride his two wheeler. I wanted to read about my favorite charge learning to ride his and to see if the book got any better since last time. I love Jamie's slogan of "Kristy for Prez, cause she's the bez." I had thought he was given a campaign button but didn't find that maybe I skipped over. I do agree with others that it was wrong how Lucy was ignored at times. I do wish we had gotten to read about the two older boys helping Jamie learn to ride his bike. As for the more Kristy related parts, I think my favorites are the opening leaf chief play with her siblings and Shannon the dog and when Claudia comes over to the Newtons' and both she and Kristy help Jamie with his bike and chat at the same time. They (K and C) seemed closer in this one and MA really was a good friend of how she supported Kristy and tried letting her know that she was doing a gigundoly great job at everything already and maybe needed to enjoy those things without taking on more which is what Kristy realized herself at the end. Not one of my very favorites but also a nice surprise of enjoying it this time a whole lot more.

^i can't stand the Jamie bike parts. I can just imagine how supremely boring it is to watch a kid ride his bike up and down a short driveway for hours. This one is TOO realistic.

^I agree that in reality this would probably get old quick. And I did notice, of course, how similar each sitting chapter was. I had just never realized before, probably because the other could be boring, that it did have some enjoyable (to me) parts.

This book reminded me a little of when students ran for class president at the elementary school I went to. None of the things the candidates promised came true, like no more homework (or whatever else they promised). Most of the things that happened in the book didn't happen or I don't remember happening in my school, like there were no posters made to vote for whoever. The only campaigning that happened that I remember was when a girl my age gave me a sticker to vote for her.

Our candidates just made speeches. I'm wondering if this is something that happens more often in books and movies than in real life.

We had some campaigning in my schools at all levels. Posters, buttons, speeches, I saw all of it at one time or another.

I remember our junior high student council candidates making videotaped speeches that were shown to us in class, rather than having an assembly where they gave live speeches. Whoever taped them did a terrible job, and one of the guys' speeches got completely cut out, so all we heard of it was "Hi, my name is Nick So-and-So, and I have a 3.0 grade point average, and---" before it skipped to the next person.

Disappointed with this reread. The basic plot could have been great and it had moments but the writing in general and the characterizations were underwhelming. It was too much that Kristy wouldn't be able to time manage much better. I haven't read or seen A Raisin in the Sun but Kristy suggested The Glass Menagerie, interesting but not really believable.

Did Kristy think she was super woman ? How did she think she was going to be President of the sixth grade at the same time as being President of the BSC, coach for the Krushers, baby sitting , homework having a social life and school?? Totally unrealistic .

I don’t think middle school class presidents really do that much. Maybe one meeting a week before or after school.

Jazz hands! Everyone looks cool in this one. She looks the opposite of cool in this one. I kinda love both of these covers.

Jazz hands! Everyone looks cool in this one.
In the first Mary Anne looks like Wendy. Agree they all look cool.
In the second with that kind of long hair Kristy looks like Abby was usually drawn/I usually picture Abby, I can see them looking similar.
