I don't like Robert either... I don't understand why, after they break up, he still gets another whole book! (Stacey's Ex)

I never really liked Robert that much so I admit I was glad when they broke up. I felt bad for Stacey though, I know what it feels like to be cheated on. Me too! It really sucks. I totally felt for Stacey after I reread this recently.

I agree, Robert was never my favorite. He seemed to get really jealous whenever Stacey did something without him. (like in Stacey and the Mystery with the Sneaky Redhead, and Stacey McGill, Super Sitter)
BUT, Stacey let him off so easily. If my boyfriend was cheating on me, even if I was over him, you can bet I would be screaming for hours.

^ Oh, same here. I made quite a scene when my ex told me he was seeing someone else. And I'm almost 10 years older than Stacey!
I don't get why the writers kept him around after they broke up. I must be more immature than Stacey, but it took forever for me to be civil towards my ex. We can do the friendly small talk stuff, but we'll never be friends again. I don't really see why Stacey even wants to hang around the guy. I certainly wouldn't.
It bugged me in Stacey's Broken Heart that she already had Ethan before she and Robert broke up. I know nothing really happened between her and Ethan until later, but it's too bad that she already had a potential love interest before her current relationship ended. Why couldn't she have just been single for a while, without wanting to date someone else already? If her heart was truly broken, wouldn't she not want to date for a while? Again I know nothing happened with Ethan, and she didn't say that she wanted to date him, but I guess I thought he was unneccessary. If this makes any sense...

I would have really liked for Stacey to be single for a while, too. She let Robert off WAY too easily and if she hadn't met Ethan, I don't think that would've been the case. I suppose its easier to accept someone cheating on you when you've already found their replacement, but I would have loved to see a more real, dramatic reaction from Stacey when she found out about Robert!
How long did Stacey and Robert go out for, anyway?

^ Totally agree about wanting Stacey to be single for longer and letting Robert off too easy. I would have liked a more dramatic reaction, maybe a bit more hurt and agonizing over it ;D, instead of her being like "oh well. I have Ethan now and he's better anyway." It was kind of like she just bounced from one guy to the next.

In defense of Stacey, sometimes you don't mean to go from one guy to the next. it just happens. Having Stacey meet Ethan kind of almost excuses Robert's cheating. I'm not sure if I like that.

Whenever I read this book I always remember the feeling of what it was like to be cheated on...and makes me even more happier than I am engaged now. heh

I agree with her letting him off way too easy. I've sadly had only one boyfriend and after 3 years together he dumped me for a girl he'd been cheating with. I was not nice about it at all especially since his only response "well you'll find someone else so get over it". It's been three years and I haven't and have accepted I probably won't since I'm not really the type to get a lot of male interest so I can't even imagine being so nice about it. But it's probably easier when you've had a million other "luv" interests. Stacey just seemed to have it made. Sure there goes Robert but then she had Ethan and Sam etc.

Agree with greer that sometimes someone else just comes along. Still wish it wouldn't have happend here. Also would have liked more outrage on the part of the BSC towards Robert. I would have enjoyed reading about them sitting around at a meeting going on and on about what a jerk he was ;D I don't remember anything like that, at least not much of it, happening.

Yeah someone else does sometime just come along, but having Ethan come along so quickly is what prevented the reaction I wanted to see from Stacey. I don't mind her moving on but I'd like a little more angst beforehand

I don't think the way Stacey handled the cheating/breakup was all that bad. I think she accepted it because she knew the relationship was on its way out already...there was definitely some hinting in that direction earlier in the book. Plus, she DID cry and freak out and lose it, when Claudia called to tell her about Robert and Andi, and when she and Robert broke up. That's pretty normal for 13. As for the Ethan thing....yeah, that was kind of quick, but as others have said, sometimes that happens. I think I'd believe it happening to Stacey before I'd believe it happening to anyone else.

It really didn't bother me that Stacey started dating Ethan right after Robert that much, but I think that was because I liked Ethan better than Robert and was actually happy they broke up.

^ Agree about liking Ethan and being glad about the break up ;D I just would have liked seeing Stacey get really angry with Robert. Now I'm thinking about that Carrie Underwood song about maybe he "should think before he cheats" when the girl is keying her ex's car, etc. ;D I know that wouldn't be a very good example for the books to give but I'm in a mean mood right now and feel like taking it out on Robert ;D
