Here are my thoughts after finally reading and rereading the book. I enjoyed the snark about Kristy's dictator behavior when it's about the club. I found it sweet of Robert to bring Stacey flowers, but if you want to go into conspiracy theories, maybe he thought that Stacey was suspicious of his behavior and the reason he brought her flowers was to make her think everything was O.K. in the relationship. I had no problem with Stacey having a potential boyfriend while still being with Robert. I'll give Stacey credit for not hating Robert and Andi. That was very mature of her. OT: On the cover, Stacey looks like she wants to rip out Robert's heart out and the look on Robert's face says that he's aware something bad might happen to him. Also, I don't recall Dawn being in the book, so why is her picture on the sidebar?

^ But by this book, Dawn has returned to California permanently. The only other book that she's narrates after this book in the mystery series is Dawn Schafer, Undercover Baby-sitter.

^ Well, she did narrate the regular series book immediately before this one. Did she already go back to California right after SS #13, or was she still in Stoneybrook during #99? I don't remember.
Edited to add: The ad at the top of this page is currently for a site called getexback.net and it says, "JUST BREAK UP? WHAT YOU CAN DO & IF YOU CAN GET YOUR LOVER BACK!"

^ i've noticed that a bunch of my books later in the series have dawn's picture on the cover, way up at the top above the logo. i never thought much about it though. i REALLY hated the fact that stacey didn't blow up at robert. it sends such a negative message to girls -- that it's okay for your boyfriend to disrespect you and cheat on you, and you don't have a right to stick up for yourself. i think a lot of girls would have been empowered by seeing stacey tell robert that he was a scumbag and that she deserved better.

^Word. Cheating is so incredibly disrespectful. Whether or not you have a dreamy new boy waiting in the wings, you are straight up being told how little someone thinks of you. It may be a horrible sign that a fictional middle schooler is more levelheaded than I am, but I WISH A BOY WOULD try and make a fool out of me. I would go Mary Anne psycho on his ass.

You know, I never thought about it, but you guys are right. Instead of yelling at Robert, Stacey cries about how she'll never find someone as great as he is. She totally can! She's pretty, and smart, and I would imagine that there are plenty of guys out there who wouldn't pull a Robert and cheat with one of her friends.

I wish Stacey would have blown up at Robert as well. He pretty much earned it.

I think what made Stacey not standing up to Robert worse was the fact at how serious relationships are made out in Stoneybrook.
I was not a fan of the subplot. Abby was a dictator whom I wish the remaining BSC members had overthrown. For one shining second it looked like Mal was going to tell Abby "No way will I give you money for a project I was never consulted about." I wish she had. I really do. Did it bother anyone else how the project was continuously referred to as "The Mexican Festival?" I skipped over the majority of Stoneybrook chapters in this one which is something I usually do the opposite of. Did Anna and/or any members of her orchestra participate in anyway or even know of what was going on? That bugged me. It seemed to be about Abby being crazed with power than actually raising money for real people.

i would have liked to see what happened without Ethan. I feel like it would have been a new ballgame then. She would have been super pissed! I hate when people deceive someone they supposedly care about. I guess I don't understand why you can't just say - it's not working out before you do other stuff with someone else. It makes me feel like the relationship wasn't really based on anything to begin with.
Abby was funny in this one. I felt like all that festival was about was to show Kristy she could do better than her etc. I like that she got put in her place.

I never blew up at my ex who cheated on me. I just slept with someone else while he was on vacation and was like "Peace out."
If someone is cheating, blowing up at them would almost give them satisfaction, like, "Look at how awesome I am! Getting with one girl and making another wild with rage!"
And being like "NO ONE WILL EVER LOVE ME LIKE THIS A-HOLE DID!" is a natural reaction and come on, it's Stacey. Everyone knows she'll be IN LUV before the ink on the pages are dry.

^ lol. all too true, Greer. It would have been nice had she taken even a one book break from luv. I guess doing so might have lost her some of her "chapter 2" sophistication and/or other comments.

first time reading this book. I never been in relationship before. So, I wouldn't know what love really is or being dumb by a guy. I never told anyone. But, I'm afraid of dating a guy. Cause, of what happen to me in the pass. It was horrible experience for me. Someone told me on other forum. I should forget the pass. It's not easy. It's not like drop of a hat. we're you hold the hat in her hand & let go of the hat, the hat falls to the ground. I do tried forget. But, anytime my mom mention a the new doctors office, I go visit. or I think about it. I have dreams about the guy molested me or even worse rape. (No, he didn't rape me in real life.) I'm not gonna forget what happen to me, 14 years ago. Yes, I been to counciling before.
Back to the book.
Plot: Was okay. I wanted see Stacey yelling @ Robert. Going behingher back & cheated on her. He just dump her. Then, start dating Andi. I love it, when Stacey sits for Henry & Grace. Their such adorable kids. Sounded like they have so much fun. I wanted join them. go to the museum, zoo, park, & etc...
Sub-plot: It was funny when Abby was imating Kristy @ the meeting. But, after that went down hill. She should't tell the sitters not paid their dues. When theirs a mexican festevial going on. They need buy supplies for the festevial. Abby, Claudia, & Mallory didn't really look through in the barn. when Marine went missing. (Not sure, how to spell the to year olds name right.)

I hope you can find peace with your past and move on. *hugs* I don't think you can, or even should, forget it. But I think that those of us who have been in situations of sexual assault or abuse can take these bad experiences and become stronger and use what we went through to help other people in similar situations.

buttercup, i am really happy to hear that you have gone to counceling and are trying to move on. i think it's really admirable that you can admit all that to us. the past is never easy to forget, but don't let the memory of this guy scare you anymore. he isn't worth it.
