This is one of my most rarely read of the older books, and I'm thinking it might be time for a reread...I don't remember anything about the breakfast party!

^ I think that's my favorite part of this one. ;D I don't remember much about it except the dumb assumptions that the "superbrat" and Gozzie Kunka were real - though I think (or hope ;D) the BSC at least suspected they weren't.

I reread this one and like it better now than I did as a kid. Some thoughts: Claudia’s outfit: "bright pink T-shirt, short red flouncy skirt, black footless tights that she had rolled up to mid calf.” Not gettin’ the tights, but as a kid, I thought the combo of pink and red was waay cool. The "Getting to Be Stars" play that Karen put on with Hannie and Amanda was kinda cute, but jeez Karen was bossy I'm surprised Amanda didn't have something to say about it, since she's older than Karen and kind of bossy herself. Karen was telling her what to wear so that Amanda didn't look fancier than her. I kept thinking of John Derek (the actor/director guy who was married to Bo) every time Derek talked about John. Because I am lame Yay, breakfast party. I had never noticed that it was actually Mary Anne's idea, and Kristy went along with it and was excited, and actually DIDN’T huff and puff that it wasn’t her own. I lol’ed when Claudia was like “do you think the kids would like chocolate or coconut doughnuts” and Kristy was just like “who cares Claudia?!” And now I’m hungry. I want to go to a breakfast party. I lovelovelove Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey. They are so nice and funny and supportive. I liked the part when Derek wrote down everything the cutthroat ballerinas were saying about Jessi's performance and offered that up as his "critique." Mrs. Masters seemed really nice too, and Todd was cute.

^ Agree about the Ramseys and Masterses. They are some of my favorite BSC parents, I think. ;D I also loved the part about Derek spying for Jessi. He's a cute little boy and so is Todd. I like books about them, though this was my least favorite. Is this the Gazzie Kunka subplot? I never could stand that one because it seemed so obvious that she was fake. Same thing with John the Superbrat, though.... A breakfast party does sound fun. ;D

Nope, I think the subplot in that Jessi is trying out for a ballet--maybe coppelia?--and derek tries to get her into modelling.

^Yup (only the ballet is Swan Lake). I think the Gozzie subplot may be in Mary Anne and the Great Romance?

Which is the book where Marilyn and Carolyn get separate bedrooms?

Yeah, that's the one. I'm sure Gozzie's in it then.

I thought gozzie came about in a separate plot, where carolyn refuses to let marilyn hang out with her friends because she's too bossy.

The way I remembered it, Marilyn and Carolyn are fighting a lot in Romance, which led to Carolyn wanting to hang out with other friends like Vanessa and Haley, and on one particular sitting job Carolyn goes off with them and MA and Marilyn play together at home, which leads to Marilyn telling her about Gozzie. But maybe they are separate plots.

^ I think you're right but I always remember them as separate plots, too. Maybe that's because I tend to skim Arnold subplots. ;D

In the one where dawn and m.a. try to share a room, the arnold twins fight fight fight. And gozzie is invented when carolyn has more friends then marilyn, probably because carolyn isn't bossy and prissy. I think it's the same book, but I can't be sure.

I forgot to mention that in the back of this book was one of those contest forms and the prize was having Ann take you and friends to lunch or something. But what I found most awesome was that 3rd prize was 50 pairs of BSC socks. SOCKS.

^ I don't think I have that page in my book. Now I'll have to check. Socks would be so cool - ha ha. ;D I might not mind lunch with Ann, though. ;D Yes, cpennylane, that is the plot/subplot for Great Romance. What is the subplot for this one?
