^ Thanks. Claudia moment on my part. ;D That would definitely be the subplot since the main plot is the Superbrat.....

This book was all right...
I was a little peeved at Jessi's character development because I felt it was a little inconsistent from the rest of the series. Jessi thinking that Derek was the character he played on PS 162. Her being naive and ridiculous... seemed kind of odd coming from the Jessi we usually see who is usually smarter than that.
Also, her big jump into acting... seemed also ridiculous and out of context. Then she suddenly didn't want to do that and wanted to go back into dancing.
Jessi needs to stop having books all about dancing. We get it. She likes ballet. Let's move on...

A little inconsistent, but there was also that book where she thought that Aunt Cecelia was going to get married because of a half of an overheard conversation, and then when it turned out to not be true, she tried to get Aunt Cecilia and Mr. Major to fall in love by serving them a spaghetti dinner.

^I always think all of Jessi's books are about dancing, but in reality I bet there are as many not about dancing as there are with major dance plots. The problem is her non-dance stories are so random that I don't remember them.

Yeah, the BSC were naive sometimes. I liked the way Jessi handled the situation with Derek. She was always so rational.

Another "boring as all hell" Jessi book. What occurred to me for the first time the other night was that Mary Anne (especially) and Dawn had no problem wearing bathrobes (over clothes) to Derek's goodbye party yet a million books later (Dawn and the School Spirit War) Mary Anne practically went into a hysterics at the mere idea of wearing pj's to school. Couldn't she have done the "bathrobe over clothes" then too or even over pj's?" I mean if she had a robe long enough to cover her jean-ed or pj bottomed legs, why would it matter which was underneath? Oh the dramatics of being MAS!

I guess there's a difference between wearing a robe to children's party and wearing one to school?

^Must be. It even makes semi-sense except when I remember how "important" presenting a mature front at (almost)? all times is to the BSC Members. This book took place 5 years before Dawn and the School Spirit War. Probably like other aspect of MA's character that changed, so too, did the ability to take something like this in stride.

What exactly was Derek's show supposed to be about? I pictured some TGIF style sitcom like early Boy Meets World.

^As far as I know we were only told that PS162="A show about an inner city elementary school." Most likely it was Derek's classroom with the typical tv half dozen kid focus.

^So did I. I also didn't envision the show as having any "lasting power." Like maybe it could have survived ratings for a tv movie or something but not a Series.

I thought it sounded boring, too. The BSC always said it was hilarious, but never really said why.
Remember that kid on Full House that was Stephanie's friend? The one named Walter that they called Duckface? He's how I pictured Derek's character of Waldo to look.

That's exactly who I pictured when I thought of Derek's character, too. I wonder if there was a description in a book somewhere that made me think that. Or maybe it was just that Full House was a popular show at the time.
