I paid more attention to the Jenny story this time around and really thought it was a foot representation o how a kid would react to what was happening to her.
I love how aunt c drops jessi off then brakes for a squirrel to cross the road. That was a dumb little thing, but I enjoyed it.
I think all has been said on here about ma and Logan. I stick with my original feelings from my original post

I liked the Jenny storyline in this book better than I usually like sitting plots. I particularly liked Flamingo Fight. I wonder if the Prezziosos would have sued if Jenny had gotten hurt during the game?

I wish Jenny and Mal had at least one meeting of "The Big Sisters Club." I enjoyed that moment between them. It got me thinking that Jessi, Shannon, Dawn, and even Logan could have been members. All four of them, were only children for 3 years before their 1st sibling was born. I did love Jenny's chosen outfit (pink skirt, blue sandals, I think red shirt) when Jessi sat for her, it probably was the first and one of last times (young) Jenny would get to chose her own clothes. Still don't care for the P's not really having a firm plan for baby-day. I'm just glad Jenny knew who Jessi was! I still, wish Andrea had been a boy. There's just no guessing in baby genders in Stoneyrbook. Main plot, my thoughts are still the same, I actually felt (aside from the park) a little more sympathy toward Logan this time around. It sounded like he did give Mary Anne a little time to think things through, when she never bothered to talk to him about what was going on, in his own (over the top) way he meant well (I would like to think) by throwing the V-Day surprise. They still should have talked, Logan should have simply reminded MA that he cared and was there to listen/help if he could. But then, we never did see any of this coming, so why would he? I think this book would have worked much better about Kristy and Bart. After "Mystery Admirer." Kristy and Bart dating more, rushing into that romantic aspect. Kristy (or Bart) want to slow things down. Much more believable especially given what "we" know about the characters than out of the blue this MA and Logan tale. ETA: A positive Sharon moment on page 101. Sharon put red food coloring in the butter for V-Day and She, Richard, MA, and Dawn exchanged "silly cards." I thought that was sweet and so un-Sharon like. (She just doesn't strike me as the type where food is concerned to do something like that. Unless I 'm thinking of her daughter)!

queen andrea could have been a hermaphrodite baby, but only ann knows the truth! I also loved jenny interacting with mallory, but my favourite part was when jenny was playing baby with mary anne and mary anne eventually did some reverse psych on her

This book starts with Mary Anne falling out of love with Logan. She even says that they don't always trust each other and that he can't always be counted on in a crisis and he was pushy. Something about that just made me stop and think, wow, Mary Anne and Logan aren't as cute together then I remembered. And the subplot where Jenny knew exactly what her mother was doing surprised me too.
I love how this lines up with Karen's in Love. She wanted the Dead Bird read to her, that poor girl. I love knowing how the story ends from Karen's side.
Richard was okay with MA being out to 11? What did Sharon do to him lol. I liked her talk with him about seeing each other too much and taking a break.
Also Dawn seeing MA and Logan getting married also made me giggle.
I really wish we heard more about the Big Sister's Club that Mallory and Jenny made up. I wonder why Jessi never really talked to Jenny more about it it? I mean Jessi was about the same age when Becca would have been brought home (birthday depending). That would have been pretty cute. I really like this subplot and I'm glad that Jenny loves her by the end anyway.
Mary Anne imagining Logan's new girlfriend is kind of funny. Wait until she learns that it's Cokie.
That surprise Valentine's Day surprise was really sweet and food sounded really good. It was their special valentine's Day before the actual break up came. Honestly I kind of liked that it was Mary Anne that had done it. It took guts and I'm glad that she's learning more about herself even though they get back together the next Mary Anne book.
Also the cover is very pretty, Mary Anne's tan makes me think that she might be part hispanic on this cover for some reason.

I liked the reference to Karen's in Love, too..as for the general plot, I thought Logan wanting Mary Anne to find someone to sub for her seemed OOC..considering he warned Stacey to be careful when she later wants to spend time with Robert and his friends the one time she talked to him on the phone..the bit about him ordering Mary Anne's food for her and not understanding how cold she was, I would have been pissed off, too and call him out on it..then again, I am considerably more assertive than MA is when the time calls for it, so yeah.

Mary Anne was kind of all over the place in this one. She insists that she needs a break from Logan then obsesses over what he's doing and who he's doing it with the entire time they're on a break. I also thought it kind of came out of left field since they didn't really seem to have any problems prior to this book. There was no real buildup to it. I think the author was just trying to send a message to the young girls reading the book. But her audience was generally elementary aged kids so yeah....lol. Not sure any of us were that self-aware at 13. But then again, MA/Logan were pretty serious about each other for the age they're supposed to be. I didn't really know anyone like that at that age. Richard's concerns with their relationship was realistic and it was nice to see MA finally agreeing with him on something. That was a nice moment. Any parent of a 13 year old should be concerned about their child getting into a "serious" relationship and I liked that he was aware of that. Though often it feels like the BSC girls are actually 15.
Logan's Valentines surprise was sweet and thoughtful of him. Weird how his parents were willing to hide out in the rec room on Valentines Day though so their 13 year old could go on a date, lol.
The Jenny plotline was kind of nice. I thought it was realistic for a child her age and I liked how Mallory was able to bond with her a little in this one.

I thought Logan's self-centeredness in Search for Tigger, while unpleasant in itself, was pretty good setup for the tensions in this book.

Lolz at the image of Logan’s entire family stuck in their den while their 13 year old son romances his girlfriend. I’m not re-reading these books in order, so to me it seems Logan has suddenly gone from very easy going to total control freak. I’m sure that’s not the case and there is a build up, but it certainly makes for interesting reading.
The Jenny P scenes were tedious - how many sitting sessions do we have to read about where she pretends to be a baby or shows off the new loot her parents have bought her? I was taken in by flamingo fight though. That sounded adorable.
Also a big fan of Mary Anne’s winter weekend morning plan of reading Wuthering Heights by the fire and wrapped in her comforter. Alas, t’was not meant to be! Heathcliff interrupts and away to ice skate they go...

MA was a bit of stick in the mid in the start of the book wasn't she . 13 years old is way too young to be in a relationship and I'm surprised they know what commitment means at that age . Gross .

Their coats are very 90s. This kind of makes me dizzy. Her vest looks so much like the siding on the houses. Her hat matches her sweater. Interesting. She looks appropriately unamused. Titles: Is it over between Anne-Marie and Louis? Mary Anne wants her freedom back (You go, girl)

Warning: rant ahead!
Just finished this one and wow, I kind of hated Logan. Now, their issues weren't 100% his fault (never is). She should've spoken up more, could've refused the dinner, etc. I would say she should've called the waiter over to change her order, but I understand that she is shy and it's in character for her. Logan was WAY over the top.
I really, really couldn't stand when he expected her to drop her baby-sitting job immediately to spend time with him. This feels OOC actually; he's a baby-sitter himself, he should understand that Mary Anne has a responsibility. It's completely ridiculous that he called right before she was about to leave (I could accept this situation more if he'd called a couple days beforehand. He was asking her to be totally unprofessional), then assumed that because Dawn was free she SHOULD cover. Sorry, but that's not how it works. Just because someone doesn't have a formal obligation at the moment doesn't necessarily mean they are free and that their time is less important than yours. Logan is so entitled.
Then he acted like an ass when she actually DID speak up for herself and say she was cold. His response? "I'm not cold." Everyone is different and you can actually get sick from being too cold. Jerk.
I found the Valentine's Day thing a little creepy and I can't really explain why. Asking his family to hide in the rec room (basement? Can't remember) rubs me the wrong way. It's SO WEIRD. The fancy (and admittedly delicious-sounding) dinner, tux, and jewelry all sound so OTT and I'm not sure why it's so creepy to me. I think I watch too many horror movies. Also, he should understand that Mary Anne isn't a fan of surprises and he really SHOULD have consulted her about the state of their relationship. Wtf? Seriously, just a casual "Are we good now" would've been better than this.
The ending is sad though. I really liked him in his debut book and he seemed great, but his character really backpedaled quite a bit starting in Search for Tigger. It's disappointing. Also, those arguments that Mary Anne was talking about in regards to Tigger and Dawn's disappearances were NOT "tiffs and misunderstandings," they're red flags. Major red flags. He's so freaking selfish. I suppose maybe that's realistic for a 13 year old boy, but this might be OTT.
Okay, rant over. I like this book, even though it made me hate Logan. It's the first wintery book for a good long while, which is nice. I like the subplot with Jenny and thought her introduction to Andrea was so sweet and touching. One of the best subplots actually and more enjoyable than the main plot (imo). But I like Jenny as a character. They whine about her being a brat, but she's pretty realistic for a 4 year old. Stoneybrook kids are generally abnormally well-behaved. Idk why I like Jenny because I do NOT like kids irl.
Is Logan still in the BSC after this? Guess I'll find out. How awkward. At least he's an associate member.
