This book has another one of those mix-up-who's-narrating mistakes. On page 110, it's a chapter about Stacey sitting, but there's a sentence that says even though Dawn isn't in that scene.

I remember this book. Actually, I think Jeff has more potential as a sitter than he shows in this book. I'm sure I've seen him helping Dawn babysit before, and he was really good then. The triplets...well, considering that they're not too nice to their own younger siblings, I can't really see them being good at babysitting. The thing I remember most about this was Jeff's acronyms and Dawn's line, "I'd like to JAB your JOKES to BITs." Oh, and Dawn's 2:6 dream. And the fact that the boys ate all of Claudia's junk food. Hey, speaking of...wasn't it awkward to have boys at the meetings anyway? I remember how embarrassing the girls found it when Logan came to one of the meetings. Is it really so much different when their younger brothers are there?

I skimmed through and the best thing about this book for me is the idea of it. Jeff was a little over the top with Jenny and the "sun scream" (reminds me of preschoolers I have taught except most of them said "cream" and sometimes I still do, too :)I loved the end chapter where Mal recounts a sitting job with all three of her older brothers and how each acted the part of a sitter. Byron played with Claire. Adam made ant free sandwiches for Claire, Margo, and possibly Vanessa. Jordan "played catch with Nicky and Vanessa." Maybe because I had just read "Get Well Soon, Mallory," and as always loved reading about the Pikes' Thanksgiving, that this seemed like a nice extra Pike family afternoon. I know the other reason I enjoyed was thinking of how I wished we had gotten to read about other BSC (older)siblings on a sitting job, like Janine in "Haunted House" and Sam in either KGI or The Summer Before. I also had the thought that it would have been interesting had Ben Hobart ever been a second sitter or helped with a BSC event. Something new to think about it. ETA: The BSC 4th festival lol to all the special sitter names such as Jumping Jessi. I think my favorite moment was when Mathew Hobart announced he was "a rebellutionary war hero" with his face paint. That reminded me of something Andrew would say.

I enjoyed this book this time 'round. I felt the transition from Dawn's California to Connecticut life was good and I thought it was a good leeway into the general story. JAB's sitting experiences were quite humorous. I have a feeling that Dawn's health food would go over much better in 2014 than in 1996, especially that green juice! Everyone seems to be juicing now-a-days. A lot of her food sounded really appealing, especially the salad with balsamic dressing and sunflower seeds. I laughed at the old lady stuffing her sandwich in her pocket book, although I question how she got that to work! The entire Hawaii trip sounded really far-fetched to me, but then again, the farthest I have been on a school trip is 3 hours away from where I lived. I also laughed at how the BSC could produce hundreds of dollars running some kids stands and booths at the 4th of July celebration in a small place like Stoneybrook.

Hope I am not the only one who liked this book? I liked the idea of Jeff and the triplets becoming BITs but after awhile figured out they weren't cut out for it.
Just bought the super special Aloha Baby Sitters so it makes sense to read it right after this one.

Jeff being good with kids is good continuity. He was really good with them in the Baby Sitters Island Adventure. And also liked how Charlotte was good with them too. Baby Sitters Club next generation anybody? I'm sure its been done with fan fiction. Loved this book. I'm becoming a Dawn fan now.

After she returns to California, she narrates this book, Dawn's Portrait and Dawn Schafer, Undercover Baby-sitter. She also narrates chapters in super specials and the last super mystery.

I just randomly thought of this book as I was writing my fic. I found it funny to have Jordan that likes to change diapers. Then Byron liked baby formula, ew.
Reading through this thread made me wish that Richard and Sharon were going on their trip. They would have been able to spend sometime with Dawn while she was at home. Then they would enjoy themselves on the off days.
It also seems as if Byron and Jeff would have been the better BITS. I mean they made Byron replace Mallory after she left. Then Jeff was the one who did well babysitting especially on the island. They wouldn't be bad babysitters at all.

But yeah I agree with you that Byron and Jeff are good babysitters. Didn't Charlotte help babysit too? I don't know for sure. It's Adam and Jordan that were "bad" babysitters. Really they're ten year old boys.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to ask this. What kind of fic are you writing? A BSC one?

I'm working on two bsc fics. One is a one shot from byrons pov when Mallory moved away and how he took over. Then another one about Nancy getting 'married' ala Karen and Hannie.

I'm stuck on one story. So it was Kristy and Mal that didn't go on the trip right?
